Miscellaneous questions

I have a few, and I don't want to start threads for every one of them...

1) How do you attach photo-etched parts? I mean what glue do you use? I need to attach small things like letters "Ferrari" (1/43), su superglue is pretty much out of the question...

2) Alluminium paint (from a spray can) that I used on my engine dried in a weird manner: it's pretty much dry (I left it for two weeks!), but it still rubbs off (big time). What did I do wrong? I shook the can pretty well (if I recall correctly), used primer and everything...

3) White paint question: white primer looks really good, crisp and bright (not shiny). But the semi-gloss white is somewhat yellowish (just a tad, but noticeable for my trained eye). I have no idea what is wrong... Is it the paint? Or do I need to use rubbin compund on it and it will become "crispy" white?

I got more, but not now

Both paint and primer are of the same brand (Motip). It's the only one I've used (apart from a dissapointing experience with Plast-Kote HG black) and the results have been more than satisfactory. But not in this case

1. Krystal klear is good, though the amount you need is tiny! You use superglue to construct photoetch parts before paint, but never after! Turns stuff milky white!
The other tip is photo mount, an dadhesive spray you get from art shops. You spray a fine mist on the back of photoetch and then rub it down in place. Works well against windows!

Any paint will look yellowy against white primer, it really is...WHITE! (In a Persil type way!)
Just change brands until you get the shade you want!

2. You didn't do anything wrong! Just change brands and never use it again!

I've also heard that you can use clear coat (from a jar, not a spray can) to attach the p/e parts.

An epoxy glue is good to hold photo-etch pieces, it takes awile to dry so you can still move it for awile !

If you're using a buffing metalizer like Testors it will come off until you buff it to bring out the shine.

White consists of alot of different shades, look for one that is crisp enough for you

OK, thanks. Next portion:

4. What to use to thin Tamiya acrylic paints? I know about X20A Tamiya thinner, but a guy at the model shop said he uses vodka or spirit for that and it works fine. Any ideas?

5. What to use to thin enamels (like Humbrol)?

4. Use Tamiya thinner, though you can wash the brushes in water.

5. Enamel thinner or celulose thinners

6. What colour seatbelts to use in the RS500 Sierra? Blue or red (black seat)? 3-point, 5-point, or something else? Got pics of real harnesses?

7. How to make a belt buckle? (see 6)
