How to make spark plug wires?

Hey guys, Im new to the board and a novice to building kits. I was wondering if anyone had a tutorial on how to make spark plug wires as well as how to mount them. Sorry if this is a question that gets beaten to death but I didnt find much when I used the search option. Thx in advance to any who can help.

You just need sum of the thin wires like the ones on head phones and stuff.

get some Network cable (Cat5) you will get 8 cable in it and cost about 0.08$ by foot

Head to Radio Shack and pick up some wire called "wrapping wire" for about $3 a roll. Plenty enough to do many engines. It comes in three colors red, white, and blue. I prefer white so you can color it any color you want. Sharpie makes different color permanent markers that is perfect to color the wires with. You can make a simple distributor useing aluminum tubing about the same size as your distributor but it is a little involved for a novice. Option #2 would be to invest in some micro sized drill bits and a pin vice and drill out each terminal on the distributor cap(be careful and work slowly so you wont damage the part or your fingers) and secure the wire with a small dot of CA or super glue.

thats a very kool idea. for the roll of wrapping wire you should look for at the guages from 32 to 28 (smaller guage is larger wire).. it should be called KYNAR WRAP WIRE. i think KYNAR is the type, not the brand. i hav tons here cause my dad is an electrical professor, but i think 32 is too thin.. but it also depends on the scale of your model, right ?

30ga. wrapping wire is about right for 1/24 scale...

Most hobby shops should have some you can buy.
One way is to make them yourself. Heat some old sprue's over a candle untill they soften then gently stretch it apart to form nice thin wire that you can cut to length

I just bought some 30 gauge wrapping wire from Radio Shack. They had white, bright red (Almost orange) and a bright blue which I got. Youy get 50 feet for $2.99. It does look awful thin to me, but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. At the very least I have some good wire for headsets in my rally cars.

According to a search on Tower, Detail Masters ignition wire is 0.0125" in diameter, which is approximately 28 AWG. According to the same chart, 30 AWG wire is 0.010025. Not much difference but it might make difference on a larger engine. Unfortunaly since most of the engines I will be wiring will be big V8s (A bunch of monster trucks and a stock car or two), it might look too small.

A quick search online revealed several places to buy 28-gauge wire, including craft sites (A trip to Micheal's might be in order).
