Question 94 chevy caprice problems after starting

Yes I was wondering. I have a 1994 caprice 350 5.7 liter. When I start it it will run for like 2 or 3 seconds then dies. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, module and it is still doing the same thing.

Any ideas.

Thanks
Tann

By module, do you mean the Optispark unit? That is one of the primary problems with the LT1 Caprices, it likes to go bad at the worst times and is a bear to replace. I'm sure someone in here has done the job at some point. Do you hear any vacuum leaks under the hood? Will it stay running if you keep your foot on the gas?

Nope it will start up then it dies after like 2 seconds it doesnt sputter or nothing and not rough at all when it dies. It does however have a rich fuel smell to it. And I think it was the ignition module I replaced.

Re: 94 chevy caprice problems after starting

Give a look to the oil pressure sending unit, they usually incorperate a fuel pump cutout circuit to prevent operating without minimum oil pressure.
After it stalls check for voltage to the fuel pump, if you dont have it in back do you have it out of the F/P relay, if still not replace sender. If you did have voltage in back, continue with the diag work.
It's a matter of seeing what your losing, spark, fuel, inj pulse, ect.
That's all of my two cents for know, let us know how it goes.
