Timed the Lude through 60mph
Bought the Race Technology Performance Meter and timed a run from 0 to 60 mph. I just want to stress that this meter is supposidly better than the g-tech Pro and can give results within 1% if you enter the correct settings for your car (weight, rolling resistance, cda, tilt factor etc.). I managed to get 7.4 secs but i know i bogged down on the launch. Peak power was 176hp at the wheels
My time to 30mph took 3.09 secs which really sucks. How do you get a good launch without wrecking your clutch and limited experience in launching? Oh and my car is a 93 jdm vtec 4ws with intake, exhaust, Superchips Performance chip, cat. removed but heavy 17s. |

Re: Timed the Lude through 60mph
i hear most ppl saying that they rev at 3.5 rpms or was it 5k rpms i dont remember.....i also heard from someone else that to get the best launch you gotta find the point where the clutch just catches, and if you can floor it right then and there you should be able to have like a real nice launch, i dunno

Re: Timed the Lude through 60mph
funny you never mentioned what kind of tires you're on, or what your suspension setup is. which happen to be two vital elements in a good launch, no matter how much power you have under the hood. if you can't plant the power to the pavement, what good is all the power under the hood you know? good for bragging rights, but no good on the street or track.
how grippy your tires are and if you can keep the tires planted will determine what rpm you should launch at, whether you should feather the clutch out or just drop it in one one quick motion. |

The tires are Nangcang 215 40 17 and they are pretty crap - they really dont grip as well as the stock tires - i might put my stock wheels back on and see if it makes a diff.
0-60 in 7.4 is pretty bad considering ive hung with a few WRX, Lotus Elise, etc. - though this was from a rolling start. Also the 17s that i have on are 7lbs heaver than the stock ones. Would that make a significant difference? |

Ive got Eibach springs on the stock shocks - 25mm drop - so there is minimal squat when accelerating. So i should launch at 2K with this setup and 5k with the stock wheels and tires - right?

i dont think it matters what tires you have. you just have to really feather the clutch, cause if you just drop it at just about any rpm, youll just burn them. and with stock tires, theyll probably lose traction easier. or if youre losing traction you can ease up until it catches, and then floor it again.
or maybe that meter just isnt accurate. try going to the track to get some real numbers. that number isnt too bad. from what ive seen stock 0-60 fluctuates around mid to high 6's.
