CHECK THIS OUT!!! Brand new Murcielago for US$233,841.62.

Hi, folks. The Murcielago is sold only for $233,841.62 (25500000 yen) in Japan. The list price is $281400 in the U.S. If you want one, you might as well go to Japan, get the car, and have it shipped to the U.S. for around $5000-10000. What do you think?

If you'd like to verify the price, go to the following websites:

Are there any differences between the models for the Japanese market and those for the the U.S. market? As far as I know, they are exactly the same.

281400-233841=47559

If you had $47559, you can buy a brand new BMW 3 series car or a large SUV. It's worth going to Japan.

There are differences between the Japanese spec and the Us spec Murcielagos. You couldn't legally drive one from Japan in America.

I compared the specs for each model carefully but found only a small difference. That is, the Japanese version has 580 hps as opposed to 571 hps of the American version. Other than that, everything else is the same, right?

Even if there are some more differences, can't you fix them on your own?

The differences are not in the engine. The one difference I know of is the marker light (the small triangular one on the fenders). They are too small for American specs. There was a thread on this when the Murcielago first came out. You can try to dig it up if you want.

I have no idea how much it would cost to ship but it seems to me that by the time you pay for all the logistic BS and associated fees that would be involved bringing one from Japan, you are probably better off buying one here.

I know I say two in autoweek last night, 2003's at Black on Black motors for 265,000 USD. Furthermore, I would feel a little better having relative access to the dealership for any problems or issues as well as having the insurance of being covered by US commerce laws and regulations.

or you could put that in a bank and compound it for the rest of your life, take it out, then insure the car, then with the rest of the money, buy an icecream.

how bout we start with right hand drive......
cars in japan are all rhd.

also there is laws about bringing cars from other countries. you would have to have emmissions papers, and a bunch of other stuff (i dont know exactly what else).
if you didn't have the papers, then you couldn't insure it. If you can't insure it, then its not worth th money that you save, cause at some point something WILL hapen to the car.

Think about this...... if it was really that simple to import a murci. then the dealerships wouldn't sell any here.

It would run approximately 9-15,000 USD to convert to get to US specs, then you have to pay import taxes on the car, fees to an RI.

The U.S. is strict of many stuff. Bumpers, lights, fenders, underpanels all are a concern aside from emissions and engine.

It may not be a good idea since it will cost you much more if it WAS illegal. Oh yes, as mentioned, almost no one drives a right side car in the U.S.
