Need a new ECTS? Check this out...

I think I've found the part every Saturn owner needs, a new ECTS with the brass tip. Check out Saturnparts.net, look under your year and model, then it is under electrical: powertrain control: coolant temperature sensor.
It is only $10.65.
I emailed them and they said it is the 2-wire sensor and that it IS brass tipped. Turnaround on my email was only 2 1/2 hours!
I am going to order this and make sure it is the right part, etc.
It's better than the crappy part from Autozone and a lot easier than trying to get to a dealer (closest one is an hour away).
Will let you guys know.

Re: Need a new ECTS? Check this out...

so i take it joyrider you are geting ready to replace your ECT soon? trust me once you do you will be kicking yourself in the butt for not replacing it 9 months ago. expect your gas mileage to go way up. your in school to be a auto tech right? if you can do a 5-gas test before and after the install. in really bad cases you may want to pull the PCM B fuse to reset the computer's memory.

for everyone else- here is the how-to -

Actually I'm in school to be a vet tech. my significant other is planning to go to school for auto body, and me and the rest of the family are shadetree mechanics, i guess you'd call it.

after i get this part in i still need to check/clean the egr valve, change the plugs and wires, and maybe check the IAC, all to fix the hard starting when hot problem.

And just think, it is about 10 degrees outside with almost a foot of snow on the ground. Whee.

I just bought that sensor too. If it is brass tipped then what the hell? This is the only site I have seen OEM saturn parts for sale and is better than going to a dealer (closest is in denver 3 hours away going over very snowy and dangerous mountain passes).

This is the same site Sierra recommended to me when i asked about OEM parts in another post. I also called them after i ordered it. It is a parts store/dealership in a city in pennsylvania. I know it's the internet but this should be the real deal. I haven't noticed any problems with the crappy sensor i still have (aside from the coolant light constantly flashing) from my car. it will be interesting to see how much different it will be after this change.

I got this sensor yesterday brass tipped and all. I don't plan on putting it on for another week or so. i believe you have to put teflon tape on it or something first. 17 dollars and something cents grand total.

Got it, it does. I will put it on after my car gets fixed on Friday and see how much better my car really is. Should be tons of fun.
