Engine floods when warm
Greetings,
I have a 93 metro that doesn't like to start when warm. When cold it will start but if you turn it off to pump gas and hop in it will crank but will not start, the engine will actually flood. I have check for spark when the engine is warm and it seems weak so I threw an ignition coil on for kicks - it didn't fix the problem, if I try to restart when warm it still floods. Anyone run into this or have any ideas? (other than shoving it off a cliff) |

Sounds like you have either a bad injector, or most likely a bad engine temp sensor. It tells the ecu how hot the motor is, and mixes the fuel/air accordingly. It should be plugged into the side of the engine head.

Since I posted I did some more hunting. I checked the resistance on the pick-up coil and it omh'd out at 280 with the engine hot and sits at 220 with the engine cold, the spec was 120-180 so I put in a pick-up coil but no joy
. Still have the problem.@geozukigti, Thank you for the suggestions, although temp guage in the dash seems to be working properly (I think it works off the ETS) I will take a closer look at it and the injector tonight. |
