Exhaust vibration

Has anyone with a 307 experienced a vibration noise coming from the exhaust when the engine is at 2500rpm?

Peugeot have accepted there is a noise and say there is a problem of which they are dealing with. I think they are bullshitting me.

I bought it in September 2002 and its a 1.6 rapier.

A reply on another thread as said its the rubber hang holding the exhaust. They used another kind in the Netherlands which seems to have cured this problem. Its therefore getting the ripoff UK peugeot dealer to comply.

but i dont have any problems with it, i didnt hear of such a problem over here, but maybe its just a problem with your specific car.

If not, contact peugeot in europ if where you live they dont give you an answer for the problem.

Fat chance of getting good money back. If you bought it new you'll be best to keep it quite a few years and get the most from it.

Hi Jock,

I have the same problem with the noise vibration (a tin like sound when reving) I bought my 307 XSi whilst on a posting with the RAF in Cyprus, for a fair bit cheaper (tax free) A collegue also bought a semi auto 307 XSi the year after and said he also had this problem! I suspected it was to do with the mounting! Did you fix your problem if so...did Peugeot sort it out?? I had considered buying a sports stainless exhaust in the hope it would fix the problem! I love the car and intend keeping it for a while!!

Thanks

Tim

I'm driving a 307SW 110HDI FAP. I don't have that problem. Maybe it's only on Petrol version. Mine has the diesel FAP filter on it, and probably it's mounted differently.

The noise that you are experiencing is the exhaust manifold ,I have just bought a307 xsi and had to have this replaced after finding the problem myself.
Peugeot replaced the cat at first and were shocked to find out that this did not cure the noise ,still rattling on tick over and also noticable when you come off the power and people turning around to see what was making the noise that you all say you hear .
peugeout know there is a problem, best tell them the noise coming from the exhaust manifold area and mention that it sounds like the heat sheild is loose.
hopefully this will help you all .

Re: Exhaust vibration

hi jock I think I can help with this one your vehicle is not equiped with the engine that has the noisy manifold and the previous post is quite right there is a big problem with the 2.0 litre petrol variants and twin skin manifold vibration, yours however is indeed the way the exhaust is mounted at the intermediate rubber though it sounds daft there is a modified mount that has a built in balance weight that completely cures the problem your local dealer should be aware of this and should be able to sell you one ( or maybe even fit it :-)
