Mustang Owner Wondering?

Ok I have seen some fast DSM's and I respect them but cause there are so many ricers out there I want to know truth from fact. So here are my first questions and I will probable have more.
#1 What is the amount of PSI a 1st GEN Turboed DSM stock internals can handle without sacrificing any reliability. You can put a bigger turbo, BOV, whateva I just want to know what the block, rods, crank can handle.
#2 Same question but for a 2nd Turboed DSM?

As for my stock t25 2ng gen. I can run 19 psi all day on stock internalls. but shorting the life of the turbo significantly. Well I wouldent put the internalls on a psi base. Id say stock internalls can handle alittle over 400hp without sacrificing reliability. I dont think psi can be measured in this case. But to get over 400hp youd be runnin some high psi. For which I wouldent know im still striving for the 300 hp mark *frown*

Safely it can handle 22-25psi on stock internals before lifting the head gasket. With some upgraded head studs, 30psi isn't unreasonable. 400-500hp have been dyno'd on stock engines with 0 internal upgrades. The 2nd gen ones have a 7-bolt crank that is weaker, not sure of the correct response though. I'll leave it for the 2nd gen owners.

the 90-91 rear end has three bolts, which are weaker than the four bolt for the 92+, and the 7 bolt motor of 92-99 rods are a bit smaller than the 6 bolt 90-91 motor.

Ok so 22-25 PSI on the stock internals. So if you bought a brand new 1st Gen Eclipse no miles. you could run that set-up to 100,000 miles?
Also what is the weight of an AWD 1st Gen?

ok there is some MAJOR details being left out of this thread. first, different cfm turbo's have different cylinder pressures at different PSI. there is a huge difference between a t-25(stock 2G)at 16psi and a aftermarket 20-G turbo at the same pressure. the 20-G will force way more air into the engine. i dont have the time to research all the numbers for you. i think www.slowboyracing.com has some #'s for the different DSM turboes. secondly, you can boost a 7-bolt engine just as much as a 6-bolt. they both can be reliable at high boost. everyone makes a big deal out of crankwalk, when it is a very uncommon thing.
95GSXracer could help you out the most. i would look to him for more help.

I know you can't buy a new 1st Gen it was hypothetical. Alot faster and cheaper than a Stang.... I guess it depends but not in most cases.

GtStang. Why do you hate LS1's??? They are extremely fast but cant touch an 03 Cobra. Just my 2 cents. Also, what are you packing behind that Stang??????

There are poeple running over 30 psi on stock 1g internals, on large turbos that move lots of air. My buddy did just this, and on the 22 of last month at 31 psi he dynoed 497 whp. He runs it this way at the track as well, and drives the car on the street. I run 25 psi daily on pump gas on a 1g motor, and dynoed 400 whp in that configuration. People with 2g motors (which do have smaller rods as mentioned, but bettre pistons) are also dynoing well over 400 HP, and these cars are daily drivers. 95 gSX made a great point. You cant judge a motors capacity by pressure. You need to look at airflow, or power. And all the above assumes you dont knock too badly, which requires that the owner take the time to datalog and tune the car appropriately. Knock can turn things real ugly real quick.

I don't hate LS1's but I'm not about to drop to my knees and suck and LS1 owners dick. My stang just has a custom built N/A 393.
