Tryin to remove Rust-o-leum

Rust-o-leum is the worst spray I've ever used, and I knew that...but they were the only ones who had the color I wanted. The first job came out real rough. So I dipped it in CSC for two weeks. All that did was make the paint rough in texture and flat in color.

Anyone had any experiece with removing Rust-o-leum? Any tips are preciated!

well im sure you knew this and i understand your situation but rust-o-leum is meant for metal, so to get it off plastic you can only sand it pretty much or use paint/varnish remover but that will ruin the plastic. that all i know of sorry

You could try to remove it using brake fluid, castrol super clean, or easy off oven cleaner. Brake fluid is good for lacquers and other paints, castrol super clean is good in removing enamels and acrylics.

Look at the positive side... you're model won't rust.

lol, even if you trow it in garbage, cause I never, ever was able to remove rust-o-leum from plastic.... The only way is sand it off... not sure if you will be able to do this without loosing surface details.

I used Polly S Easy Lift Off (ELO) on some mystery paint years ago.
It worked great on paint that none of the regular methods would touch.

Rust o leum is etching metal primer - the problem is that it etched the plastic, and nothing, I mean nothing wil be able to remove it. It just becomes part of the plastic - I hope it was gray primer, not dark brown...
