Who would win: '04 SRT-4 Vs. Mustang Mach 1

Who would win in the 1/4 and around the track?

I think this would be a good match up. GTs cost about the same as the new '04 SRT-4s and have 260hp, but there are STOCK SRT-4s out there that are dynoing 240+whp and 275+ tq. And some are running high 13s. The Neon is also lighter and I think would dominate the GTs. They only run low 15s, high 14s anyways.

But the Mach 1 has over 300hp, and I think it is a good match for the new SRT-4s. I think they run high 13s too.

Is the Mach 1 one of the few new cars for under 35k that can beat the SRT-4, stock for stock, in performance? What do you guys think?

35k??? Check out the Mitsu Evo and the Subaru WRX Sti... both cars will put up better numbers for 30 grand, and they both handle insanely well for cars under 50 grand if you ask me. The SRT-4 is one sweet car though, and it can be found cheaper. Its the one thing I think Dodge has done extremely well. The Mustang... Im sorry, but I've always thought they were all overrated, and I dont think they can handle with the Evo or the STi

You could even find a SVT Cobra for under 35k...I got a buddy who haggled and found one for 31k...

I think a SRT-4 vs Mach 1 would be a pretty close race. I am not going to pull out numbers and do magazine racing... but the Mach 1 is basically a non-supercharged Cobra, so it isn't a slow car at all.

With equal drivers, the mach 1 should be able to win by a fair amount in a drag race and track. The cars under 35k that would be able to beat the srt-4 are: maybe svt cobra if you can get it that cheap, gt (close race), mach 1, 350z, rx-8 (pretty close race), g35 (close race) and wrx. I am probably missing one so if I am pls correct me.

ps. The camaro or firebird, if they were still around, would both destroy the SRT-4 but the SRT-4 is still a pretty cool car.

I think you guys misunderstood me a little.

First of all, I said NEW cars. And Secondly, I said a "one of a FEW new cars". I know the STi and Evo would dominate the SRT-4 and are around 30k. But other than those two, I don't think there are other cars out there that are both new and under 35k that can beat the SRT-4 in straightline performance without getting a good arguement out of it.

That's why I think the Mach 1 would be a good choice against the SRT-4.

See, this is what I mean. With the STi and EVo, you know there is no arguement that the SRT-4 would get it's ass handed to both cars.

But from the cars you listed, the RX-8, 350Z, GT, G35 and WRX would all get arguements. Those cars you listed all have less HP than the SRT-4 or around it.

Remember, there are STOCK SRT-4s that are dynoing at 240/ 278. I think GTs and RX-8, both have less HP and are heavier(?), would get beat by SRT-4s EASILY. Only reason why the WRx(less HP, around the same weight) and the G35 would be close races is because they would get awsome launches because both are AWD. The Z, I don't know about that much.

Of course, I'm talking about straightline performance. Around the track, the SRT-4 would get it's ass handed by most of those cars, except of the GTs.

Umm...the SVT Cobra runs 12's out of the box...some have run mid 12's BONE STOCK! And if the SVT Cobra can beat a ZO6 BONE STOCK...then it's definitely faster than the STi

So...I think you need to take a hard look at the SVT Cobra b4 you say that it's the fastest...

dude have you actually seen a zo6 race the new svt?
i saw it over the summer at the track and the svt got a better r/t and launch and lost with a low 13 the zo6 got a 12.6 bone stock. mabie it could keep up w/ the c5 but it would really get ruled with the same launch.

A 03 Cobra can be bought for 35,000 plus sales tax if applicable, that's what they sell for at dealerships here in Mass. It is the fastest 1/4 mile car new for 35,000 or under produced at the moment.
