Arrow What's your best launch???

I was just wondering about your strategies for the best launch with an AWD car. Does tire pressure make a difference? BTW, I'm riding on Kumho Ecsta 225's. I would like some advice for good launches. Thanks.

ok well i dont know about with awd but from driving my 300zx with manual. i like to ease on to it starting from about 1700rpm as my right foot puts the gas to the floor slightly faster it will give you a bit of roll then the throtle throws open so you dont spin the wheels as much. i feal this is better for the transmission and think havnt tested it that it will knock a hair off your time. droping spins to much and you dont have time to slowly release it on. i push to as i said about 1700rpm bring the clutch about 1/4 out then qickly slam the gas and let the clutch out not realy droping it but pulling back fast so that the foot is still controling the release rather than letting it fall on its own.

Re: What's your best launch???

In the M3, I put it at about 3600RPM before I engage. As I let out the clutch, I open the throttle as much as necessary to keep it 1000RPM off the redline. Just before the rev limiter, I shift. This keeps the tires from spinning, but puts the most power possible directly to the tires.

Of course, that's a RWD with a deep clutch.

ive driven both my friends GSX, and my bros WRX. the best way i found to launch an awd vehicle was by revving it to around 5000 rpm, feathering the clutch at the beginning until the clutch is half way out, floor the gas, and let the clutch out a little quicker. let the clutch out slow at the beginning, and let it out quicker near the end. but flooring the gas when the clutch is out half way. thats how ive usually done it, but some people probably have gotten if faster with another method, i mean ive never even owned an awd car, havent driven one long enough to feel that i got the fastest lauch possible. the gsx and the wrx lauched differently though.

tire pressuere will determine how much wheel spin you are going to get, funny thing is, I usually put my tire pressure pretty high so I can get some spin off line to reduce the abuse on the tranny.
there a few lanuching technics:

Most difficult one would be reving to 3k waiting at the light, then rev up to 5k when the second yellow light hit. dump the clutch and off you go, this should get you 1.6-1.8 60' but your first gear won't last long.

The way I do it just rev to 4k and slipped the clutch, I usually get somewhere 1.7-2.0 60', but the clutch won't last long either.

The easiest way is to get the Utec launch control, it will cost you a shiny 1K, but hey, you get the best launch ever, how about 8-10lb of boost off line with 2 stages of rev limiters (flat food shifting, the second stage holds at 7k and you don't have to let off gas when shifting ) but this will be the mega tranny destroyer!

I have an 02 with 225 Dunlop Sp8000 all around. I launch at 4500rpm's, not dropping it, but letting it out fast to where it barely burns the clutch. I get 1.9 60ft times and finish at a 13.3
