Toploader

hey, i was woundering what other 4 speeds ford made? i'm not really an expert... all i know is the Toploader

I'll be honest I don't know much about the other Ford 4-speed trannies. They put some in there trucks in the 70's. Most of the other Ford 4-speed trannies you don't even want to know. The Ford 4-speed Toploader is well know because of it's incredible strength. The case design is so good Jericho transmission are based on it. So for Ford's the only manual trannies you talk about are 4-speed Toploader, T-5, Tremecs.

Yea, i know, i want to get get a toploader, so i'm having a buddy of mine go to a junk yard where he is, and there is a ford 4 speed there, but he doesn't know what it is.. just behind a I6... far as i know there was no toploaders behind the I6..

Well if he can see the tranny out of the car here is the easy way to identify it. The top of the case is where it comes apart hence the name Top-loader!
