Question integra horsepower

I have a 99 ls a/t, with a cold air intake, a 4-2-1 header, a full catback exhaust, aem high flow fuel rail and iridium plugs. I don't seem to be getting the response i thought i would get, Does anybody have some suggestions for an upgrade, or can the car be tuned better?

lol

I bet a stock sedan with a manual will still pull on you. go to dealerships, they will tell you autos are much easier to sell, put your car back to bone stock, and trade it straight across for a similar condition teg with a manual. cuz yours is worth more than theirs to them, but to you the manual should be worth more, so both of you will be happy woith the swap, then put that stuff on your car and then youll notice a HUGE improvement.

or if you really love our car then you could do the auto to manual swap, but thats gonna cost some money. if you get a manual, you should also look into a GSR. I think that would give you the power you are looking for.

Um, yah well those are all good suggestions LoL ! To, be honest you wont get much out of the "Integra Ls" especially when its a automatic transmission! Unless, you put some heavy amount of money into it! I suggest getting a turbo or supercharger hahahah i think that will do the trick..but it depends on the car! If you got the money.....

Is it just me or does it look like in the dyno chart in the link that the base run (blue) was with vtec not engaugeing and then the red one looks like at about 4,400 rpm it jumps too much to be just exaust, it looks like the first pull was without vtec and the second wasa with vtec. Or is it just me?

gotta be the vtec didnt kick in the first run, does vtec engage at around 4400 rpms in a civic? if so then its definately that.

and even with a LS, basic boltons yopu can fel a difference, its just that autos arent wuick at all, especially when put up to small torqueless 4 cylinders.

It says on the top that it is a civic with a GSR motor. So I think it is prbably the vtec did not engauge the first run. Don't know why unless someone just decided to disconnect the vtec solenoid or something so that the could say oooowow look 20+hp from a exhaust.

Small mods

First off your on the right track with the aftermrket if ur going to try and be N/A but if you really want to see big gains you have to go with the turbos and superchargers. In order to see the types of gains your prolly looking for out of a N/A engine u'd need to change around alot more things than just the standard I/H/E. You'd have to look at new cams and timing issues along with getting into the head with valve changes and changing around things in the block. So if you want aa much cheaper way of gaining big gains you ought to look into making ur car turbo or super ready then turboing or supercharging the car. Also I agree with the fact that a manuel transmission would be a better way to go. Also get some new timing gears and adjust the timing. That way you'll beable to time the ignition to match the amount of air and fuel that your now putting in with the rail and intake.

Hope this helps!!!

in my friends gsr, when he starst his car it takes a while for his vtec to kikc in, I always thought it was stritcly oil pressure that activated it, but there must be some sensor that doesnt let it do it til the engines operating at a certain temp or something, because he could start his car and drive for like sometimes even a minute and vtec still wouldnt engage. and I know in one minute you got plenty of oil presure, takes seconds to build oil pressure. so you know what else affects vtec engagement besides having the oil pressure and being at the right RPM's?

and you could get new CAM gears and adjust the CAMS timing. adjusting the timing is done using the distributor, and it adjusts the spark timing. but without going on a dyno or putting multiple runs in at the track for each adjustment to see if your average was better then you wont really know where your cams need to be set for optimimum performance.
