How to increase horsepower?

I was thinking about buying my friends GMC jimmy. I was also wondering what ways can you increase your horsepower?

I heard that dual exhaust, a computer chip, and an air filter, could increase it.

Someone later told me that all of those would actually make the car slower and decrease horsepower and torque..

I dont know who to listen to... And that person said a 4.3L v6 doesnt put out enough exhaust to make a difference..


PLEASE HELP ME ON WHAT I CAN DO!!!!
