MR-S Power

About how much power could you make with the motor already in the MR-S? what are some engine swaps you could do? and how much power could you make with each motor? How much would it cost to get the MR-S running 12s with the stock motor and would it still be streetable?

you could swap in a 3sgte into the mr-s. it would probably take a lot of customizing though. there's a guy that has a well tuned mr2 turbo with a stock engine that dynoed around 530rwhp. other people have been able to pull off more than 600hp with the 3sgte.

because the 1zzfe is new, people are probably still playing with it. i think that might be one of the reasons why the 3sgte is used in the jgtc mr-s. i know that apexi and power enteprises has a turbo kit for the 1zzfe powered mr-s. to turbo an mr-s, you might have to upgrade your fuel system (i'm more of an mr2 guy so i'm not sure), engine management, intercooler and get supporting modifications like gauges, boost controller, and such. there's more but my fingers are tired.

Curious about MR-S

Hello new member here. I've been considering starting a new project car. Now it's basically down to a 240SX w/ SR20DET swap or i thought i might be cool to have a MR-S w/ 3SGTE swap. I like the extra displacement to spin the turbo. I rather avoid the whole Silvia bandwagon, and seems like 3SGTE is a solid power maker.

OK, now, would the swap be street legal? considering it's 2.0L turbo instead of the MR-S stock 1.8L NA engine...

Here is another question, where would the intercooler and radiator be mounted at? It is kinda hard for me to picture all that in the bay of MR-S, and still provide efficient cooling, maybe going to H2O to Air intercooler??....

I don't mind a little fabrication here and there, the whole point of my project car is to learn new things.

Anyone know where I can find more infomation on this swap?

Much thanks.

The 2zzge is the easiest swap into a mrs, 200+hp can be made with normal bolt-ons, thats plenty to run 12s in a 2100 pound car

Re: MR-S Power

Turbos can be rather expensive-from $5000 to $8000 with installation. However, some folks on Spyderchat havy dynoed the engine at just shy of 300 HP. 300 HP in a 2,200 pound car.
