Lightbulb NEED ADVICE - CA18DET or SR20DE

hi,
I am looking at Nissan Silvia (1988- 1993 model), and I need some advice on engines. I have a choice either the CA18DET or SR20DE? I have read a few posts that try to compare the CA18DET to the SR20DET, but it doesn't help me much. The SR is not Turbocharged therefore I would need to consider the costs of a turbo for it. Should I choose the CA18DET or SR20DE (are they comparable)?

I am completely open to suggestion

The older Siliva K's came with the CA18DET.Great engine, but it is harder to get performance parts, and it doesn't put out as much power as its Sr counter part. The SR20DE has lots of parts availible for it,easy to find, and you could stick on a turbo later.Unless your somone who wants to stand out and get a different engine.I would go with the SR20DE.It isn't as old, revs higher, has more tuning ability, and is easy to come across parts for.

Mate personally i would go with the CA18det cause its apain in the arse to turbo the non-turbo engine also all the running gear isn't has strong in the Sr20de . Either just get the CA18det now or wait till a SR20det comes up ................... Save more money in the long run

Absolutely, don't bother trying to turbocharge a naturally aspirated engine because there is so much more to it than hanging a turbo from the exhaust. Definitely go with the CA18DET or the SR20DE. You can go with the typical turbo modifications and get tons of power without needing any engine replacement parts whereas there are very few performance parts available for the NA model (not even here in Japan.)
