ca18det - sr20de

hey guys im bout to start a project, im going to buy a 180sx on the cheap with a ca18det in it then do an engine conversion to a sr20de, i hope to take the ca18det out and put the sr20de in my self then take the car to a mechanic to do the wiring loom and anything else for me, ive got a little list of parts:
sr20de
wiring loom
engine mounts
ecu
radiator hoses
thats all i can think of right now, and possibly a radiator.

or i can just buy a front cut and then i should have absloutley eveything i need for the conversion.

can someone please confirm that im on the right track? and inform me if im missing anything, im hoping to buy a car and do the whole thing for 12k aud. or under thats inc on road costs.

Re: ca18det - sr20de

dude, why would you put a sr20de in an already turbo 180sx...? either run the ca18 or buy an sr20det... running a DE engine is stupid if you want to make power on turbo or already have a turb engine in the car. and 12000 aud thats pretty damn expensive compared to how much it would cost here in NZ.

if a cop will actually fine/impound you for driving a turbo'd car even if it is the law i would be surprised. dont have a loud BOV and exhaust and get some lock down hood pins = solved.

you wont get 120kw without a turb, and you wont be able to make much more if you turbo without rebuilding your engine with low comp pistons, beef rods, ect or use sr20det internals, squirters ect. not to mention the money you're gonna need to spend on the fuel system just to make it run a stock turbo.

and if you're soooo concerned about being legal how about the certification you're probably gonna need for the sr20de? i know here in NZ you would need one , even if it bolts in.

too bad you crashed your pulsar, now you're going to ruin a 180.

man i think you've been fag dancing with your friends a little too much lately. no, i'm not going to stop posting in your thread =) i dont remember anything about your pulsar other than it being written off but thats besides the point. autech sr20de? and how much are you paying for it? i would put my life on either that engine not making anywhere close to 148kw or being seriously worked, but also besides the point.

let me elaborate a little for you. i didnt say it was impossible to make power from an sr20de, just that you wouldnt without a turbo. why? because you'll need pistons, cams, head work, tune, ect to get it. think for a minute, how expensive is that shit? an sr20det would be cheaper by far, not to mention by the time you have saved the cash to build it your 2 years will probably be nearly up. you dont even know how to get the engine in your car and you're talking about all this shit.

lets say you actually do it and build up the sr20de. you'll have just spent $$$$ on an engine that not too many people will want to buy (if you choose to sell it in the end) and makes less power than your ca18 with 10 times the cost of mods.

speaking of insurance i didnt know it was compulsary in aus. how fucking expensive do you think it will be when they see all the shit done to your car? i drive my skyline around with no insurance. guess my balls are just bigger than yours?

and remind me why i give fucks about your "friend" with the 180sx? what the fuck does that information have to do with anything. i see 320kw on shitty unsafe setups all day. give me a fucking break 12 year old.

did i forget to point out that the questions in this thread are fucking basic information you can find with a search?

and for the record, i didnt insult you at first, i said the idea was stupid (because it is), and you got all shitty.

damn i just wrote alot.

Re: ca18det - sr20de

ok im 17, insurance is compulsury in aus and if you wanna talk bout balls when i had my pulsar i got done twice with no liscence no insurance no rego and the first time i had stolen number plates that 4 petrol runs had been used with them then i got done the second time for resisting arrest.. lets not talk bout balls caus u dont no me.. and seriosuly do u know what your talking about?? 120kw from a s15 jdm sr20de?? EASSYYY, good exhaust, air filter, cam gears, headers and a pulley kit should make it quite easily, if it doesnt then it would come close, and that autech engine was offered to me for 2500, i think you are WAY underestimating the non turbo sr20...

Re: ca18det - sr20de

i know you're not really 12, i was just being an asshole. and wtf, you left stolen plates on your car after you did the runners? not that i care but that sounds more like stupidity than balls..

seriously though, not to be an asshole but i just dont believe that none turb sr20's make that much power. i see bunches of people doing work and dynoing them and getting nothing. if you can point me a thread or uploaded dyno sheet that proves your point, fair enough.

and i have no idea how NZD and AUD compare but you can pick up an sr20det here for 2000.

and the insurance, how much will it cost when they see you have an engine swapped 180sx with all these aftermarket parts?

Re: ca18det - sr20de

yaaaaay the DRAMA and fun is back in AF!!!!

anyhow

swapping a CA or SR in a S13 is a bolt on.
the SR N/A is even easier to drop in.
the CA (i never did that swap ) should also be straight forward.

just make sure u get new engine mounts and change all the turbo gaskets and make sure u upgrade the fuel pump.

Re: ca18det - sr20de

Hay dude why don you snatch a KA24de from a frunteer truck and drop it in.
You can all motor it.
We in the US git it with the stock 240SX/ silvia.
All parts can be stock or used. easy, cheep swap.
more displacement for NA power.
We don't like it because many say that it cant handle boost well.
but if you ain't gonna boost it than get some stage 2 cams
P&P the head, bump the compression up to 12-1 and off you go.

Re: ca18det - sr20de

silvia gtr - getting a ka in aus: no chance lol. ive never seen one in aus let alone heard of one lol.

awdsr20 - so fuel lines and fuel pump will need upgrading if i was to put the sr20de in tha ca18det? but wouldnt the fuel pump already be big enough because the ca18det is turboed so shouldnt it be big eneough to compensate for an extra 200cc??

i would not think so bro, for the N/A SR u should be ok.
just get the new engine mounts and make sure the oil pan is not dent. if it is dent , take it out and get ride of the dent.
BTW, i would get a rocker arm stopper just in case and if u can get the S14 SR bcus u will get a better top end due to the VVT thing ok!

Re: ca18det - sr20de

hey, one more thing, if i was to buy an auto s13 (240sx coupe) how hard would it be to convert it to manual?? maybe put an r33 gearbox in it? or an s14 or s15 gearbox, how expensive? how much work involved?
