Question ?'s on Head Gasket

I just got a 95 neon to use for the winter so i dont have to put my 84 cali mustang through the pain. I have concluded that my head gasket is blown and i have found online that this is a common problem. If anyone could give me some advice on what I should do that would be great. Does the dealership recall it? How long does it take to do if anyone has ever done it themselves. Thank you, Ryan

Join the head gasket problem club. I just replaced the gasket on my wifes 1996 Neon. The dealer told me that Dodge used a one piece gasket from 1993 -1999 and then went to a three piece gasket....which is what they are supposed to use to replace it with now. Cost me $550, but I also had them change the timing belt at the same time so I didn't have to do it later. I had it back in 2 days. This is very common after 60,000 miles and Dodge will not stand behind their product.

rediculously common

Its pretty much a guarantee that if you own a neon, that you will need to change the headgasket at some point or another...I have a '95, I changed mine, also the timing belt at the same time, might as well do it, trust me. Me and a friend of mine did the work, it took all day, but only cost about $150, had to borrow a 3-jaw puller from the parts store though. If you can, do it yourself, save yourself some big cash.
Good luck
