How much would you buy my car for?

I went up to the shop to get the passenger seatbelt and some dude was there in a silver '02 Jetta 1.8T and wanted my car for his, plus the price difference. He has a front lip, sideskirts, intake, exhaust, 19's, new brake/rotor system, HID lamps, suspension, leather interior, sunroof, and it's chipped to 215hp, all in mint condition. He only wants $18k for it, and in '02 I know for a fact they were $24k new with all his options. It's more of a prettyboy car, but I kinda want something nicer than a Civic with no options at all. I'm still thinking about swapping them, but before I talk to him again, how much would you all buy my 2000 hatch for? I bought her for $13k new and am the original owner. I'll sell it with all oem parts too (seats, headlight housings, steelies w/new tires, and front grill).

mods:
B16B engine in perfect condition
17" ADR rims
powerslot rotors
apexi n1 exhaust
aem short ram
neuspeed short shifter
pioneer deck, front/rear speakers
recaro srd knockoffs
sparco harnesses
autometer tach and a/f guage
walboro 255lph fuel pump
aerospeed front upper tie bar
eibach rear upper tie bar
neuspeed rear lower tie bar
generic type r grill

problems:
needs new tires soon
in-tank fuel pump filter needs replaced ($5)
a couple dings on the outside, nothing major
exhaust is a bit rusty
3-4 shift grinds at high rpms
angel eyes aim low and are impossible to adjust vertically, but bright fogs make up for it

I'm thinking about $12k, but that may be highballing. On kbb.com a stock '00 DX hatch goes for $6k (fair) to $9800 (great). I know mods somewhat lower a car's value, but considering I have a pretty unique engine that could be looked over..?

Re: How much would you buy my car for?

It's a cool showpiece, but in the real world I'd rather take the GS-R engine because it's got a beefier low end and you don't have to dig around for JDM parts. Plus you can't really turbo a Civic Type R engine without basically turning it into a GS-R first. The belts on mine are from a GS-R, the cam sprockets for an Si etc. It's always one or the other and makes it kinda rough. Minor gripes, but I'm definitly happy w/it.

$16k seems a bit high, but if I could find somebody to pay that, I wouldn't exactly talk them down

Re: How much would you buy my car for?

lol.. I just want to get some rough opinions on what it's worth from enthusiasts. They don't exactly have "Civic with Type R swap" on Kelley Blue Book. I only owe about $4800 on it, and the thought of having no car payments in a year seems pretty relaxing, so keeping it does seem like the right thing to do.. but what if I lose my job or something comes up where I have no other choice?

There is an ass for every seat. You need to find it! Most people dont care what you have into a car. You will never see a full return on your investment of parts in a car. You would be lucky to see 20%. You need to compare book value plus what you think in the real world what is all that stuff worth. Book on your car in CT is under 9k. I think you would be lucky to see 10.5k. Sounds like a very nice car, I would love to have it. You should keep it!

Re: How much would you buy my car for?

Yeah the money I'd get is nowhere near the blood sweat and invented cusswords made in my garage over it.. $10k - $11k, if that, is pretty much what I'd expect unless I find a 16 year old with rich parents. If I could sell it for sentimental value, the $16k is about right

I hate to state the facts but you'd be lucky to get 10k for it. I've seen B18C swapped hatches go for that. I'd say forget that bitch boy Vdub and roll your hatchy 4 life.

Re: How much would you buy my car for?

I would not buy it or any modified used car.

Mods dont increase value, well maybe to owner/spender - they reduce value.

Keep it - strip it - race it

Re: Re: How much would you buy my car for?

Price is as if it was a Si, other than that, as said before, mods don't add anyvalue to a car, just a headache for the new owner if they are all dicked up.

Re: Re: Re: How much would you buy my car for?

Yeah but Si's have a/c, cruise, etc... My DX has nothing but a steering wheel and a radio.. well, and a moonroof. Point is it's not an Si, it's a DX with a beefy engine.
