Why do you chose this? (off topic)

I appologize for the off-topic, most of you will like it though.
I notice a lot of the same builds here in the past months and the thread "daring to be different" got me thinking so lets have it, why are you all so fascinated with Nissans? Skylines, the S chassis Silvias, 300's 350's G20's and 35's you all have them built and in your signatures and maybe even in your driveways. Why so much love?

You've all probably heard it before Im a Nissan nazi, I could go on and on but I want to hear it from you. I'm interested to hear your responses as model builders.

I'm not fascinated with Nissans at all, in fact, the only Nissan in my collection to be built is the Kure Skyline, but only because I like the color/decal scheme.

Now if you must know, a little over 30% of the models I have to build are Subaru's of various generations and guises

Re: Why do you chose this? (off topic)

First off I'm also a Nissan freak. I've owned one or 2...OK maybe 3.....been wrenching on SR20's for years...about to install my cousin's DET. Can't wait.

I've driven 3 R34's in Japan(2 non-turbo, 1 stock GT-R) and one mildly modded R33 GT-R here in the states. A high school friend used to have one bad ass R32 GT-R modded to the hilt until.....well he got busted for doing "things".

Since I've always been a model enthusiast and I'll never own a GT-R this is the closest I can get. I can mod my cars without limits without spending a buttload of money. Seems like a perfect fit.

Off-topic from your off-topic. Is there any pics of your R32 Nismo progress? Curious as I also am in the works of a Nismo R32.

I was shopping for a 200sx when I bought my first Supra...Real car story.
I had already bought my second when the '90 300ZX hit show-rooms...
I don't really know what the deal is with the Skyline...?

I naturaly love Nissan hence why most of my cars are R32 Gtr's, but if they made half the cars i really love lIek teh Subaru Forester Gt etc tehn i would build them but it seems companies like Tamiya only wantto invest where the market is and thats Gtr's, civics, wrx's etc etc

you have to respect the fact that nissan can build cars that can compete with the best cars in their class, i mean the new 350z, thats got audi tt owners and porche boxter owners quaking in their boots. these are tremedus cars, powerful, tuneable, bullet proof. the gtr series are just amazing, the fact is nissan didnt bother doing what honda did and creating an Acura style brand, because its nissan, and pround of it.

Why people cant see beyond a badge i dont know.

for the money nissans are damn hard to beat, they are technilogicaly inovative, reliable, well designed and bloody fast to boot!

the fact that the models are popular is no surprise, i mean who wouldnt want a skyline, or a 350z, raw power that can grow with you, not something that you have to sell and buy the next one up to have more power, there are road legal and fully controllable 800bhp ones running here in the uk, and even more powerful ones in japan.

all hail to the nissan brand, and may it desimate all who get in its way, lol.

great models always fun to build, i feel that nissan let them know everything about the cars and have a good relationship with tamiya, which i feel is a good thing.

just my 52 cents lol

I guess it is the in-thing, the whole Japanese import scene.
Just like 30 years ago it was the muscle cars. I bet tons of folks built model cars of them back then.

For myself I lived in Japan growing up I always saw Skylines and Silvias, so I like those cars.

I like Mustangs and Camaros and plan on getting a 92ish Camaro and building a nice motor w/ a 6spd tranny. American muscle more bang for the buck, if you live in America.

Well, I think everyone is building Nissans mainly because of the big drifting hype that has happend in the last few months, you have to admit, when you see drifting in a magazine or show or movie or what not, drifters mainly drive nissans,(very nice ones at that) and some toyotas, but apart from that there isnt really any other name that you see hand in hand with drifting, and nissan bodys look amazing, and now that 2Fast2Furious is out, all the little kiddies want a skyline, I think that this has also added to the hype about skylines, and nissans are some of the best cars around, in races and on the street.

Just my 2 cents

It just the body styling for me. I love the body style of the 350Z and the Skyline. I haven't got to build one yet. But still, just something about the looks of the car, and just the whole thing over draws me to it.
