I have a '94 Cutlass Supreme SL 2 Door 3100 V6 that I have only owned for a little over a year.
In the morrning, when my car is first started up.. dead cold, I get a loud ticking from my engine. It goes away after my car is warmed up, but it still bothers me even after i have talked to other car people. I know that i am due for an oil change, could that be my problem? Another thing is that my car jerks sometimes at high speeds and I am forced to step harder on my gas pedal to get it to stop. My rpm gage wobbles up and down when this happens. Do I need a tune up? Or is it something more serious than that. Other than this, my car runs great. |

The noise is likely an oil related issue, likely an oil change will help. Use only filters with anti-drain back valves, like the A/C units, or other name brand types. I would also recommend using a name brand oil and change it more often. I strongly recommend synthetic oil for its engine protection properties. The miss and tach issues are likely related, like a cam or crank sensor. The year model you describe was a pivotal one for these sensors, and they weretroublesome initially. Ray
