I have a 97 spyder gst. stock turbo all bolt ons( upper and lower ic pipes, intake, dual stage boost controller 16/19 psi, 3 inch down pipe, 2 1/2 cat back, 255 fp, greddy type s bov,ngk spark plugs. anyhow anyone ran the 1/4 mile at the track with a similar set up? If so what bolt-on made the biggest diffrence? currently in the market for a big 16g. Would I be able to install the 16g with my current set up. Or will i need injecters etc.? have 110,000 miles on stock engine. still runs good, but im very cautious about major problems with the high mileage. anyone have a high mile engine with no problems..? similar set up..?
Dsmers I need your imput..!!! |

youve aleady got the best engine for your eclipse, just i dont recomend goint over 15 pounds of boost on stock internals, build up your internals and you should be able to runs 20-25lbs on the top end internals, you could get your engine up to 550hp for about 10grand lol a friend did it

You can run 30 psi on stock internals (500 whp) on 6 bolt motors, and 25-26 psi on 7 bolt motors. 15 psi is stock practically for a 2g
Let me break down the steps I took a few years back to illustrate what gave me hte best gains. The car is AWD though. So take the actual numbers for what thier worth. I had a BR 2.5" turbo back and got it down to 14.6. Added a K&N and got down to 14.3. Then I did 2 piece UICP, 1g bov, boost controller, datalogger, clutch, and suspension, and got down to a whopping 14.2. The turbo is pretty close to maxed out at that point (T25). 16 psi made the most power, and gave the best datalogs. Adding race gas and raising the boost got me to 13.7, but I had no fuel control so it was too rich. Next I did a 190 fuel pump, AFC, and old used 14b. That got me down to 12.8 at 106 at 24 psi. So all the mods that did nothing for me at 14.2 now came into play. And I must stress that the single most valuable mod is a datalogger. Also remember that stock injectors are good to mid 12s, but only on race gas (since you need less fuel). stick to 16-18 psi on pump, basd on what the logger tells you. This is how you make the most power your setup will allow, while still being safe. Use this (and other poeples recomendations) as a guide, but get a logger and do the research and verify this with your own eyes, on your car. Good luck. Also remember that poeple are doing 400-500 whp on stock blocks with up to 170k miles. My 130k mile 6 bolt ran low 12s its whole life and served some hard daily driving time. It was still perfect when I sent it in as a core for a race block.
