Question Civic No Go

Long story
My sons friend came by to visit. and show his wheels. 2000 civic Dx 1.6, header, ignition, cold air intake, fiberglass hood etc.. nice car. BIG stereo.
Anyway he had what he said was a "small' fire while he was here. bad connection in stereo wiring and she burnt out that circuit. popped the main 80a in the engine compartment. changed the fuse but no go. solenoid "clicks" but no crank. power to everything else and everything functions. Checked all fuses in both boxes, all good, checked all the other wiring for visible defects, none, changed starter/solenoid assembly, same thing. jumped from "s" on solenoid to "+" on battery, same thing.checked clutch switch for engagment, it was good, still no go. solenoid throws in strong but no crank.
I can hear the fuel pump for 2-3 secs when I move the key to pre-start so I'm assuming the main relay is OK.
What am I missing ??
In AM will try to see if she goes with a push start.
Its gotta be some little bitty switch/relay that i'm missing !!!
Of the seven vehicles that i have 5 are pre-1980 so you can guess how much electronic gizmo experience I have.

a friend of mine had a similar "clicking" problem with the starter... (no fire though) everything seemed to work ok... radio played, lights worked, etc. turns out the battery had a dead cell... this caused it to still seem charged but it had no cranking amps left to start the car

the point of this story... check the battery

Re: Civic No Go

Your right, I forgot to mention that. voltage across shows a solid 12 v. when we tried to jump it , hooked to the leads, same thing only "clicks" The interesting thing today is that when we pushed it out of the shop it started up right away from 3rd. everthing works, all gauges are registering, speedo works, runs and idles OK. I cant believe i got a 'sad' starter/solenoid package replacement. Gotta be some little thing thats acting as an interlock. Just dont know what that little thing is !!! yet.
