Dashboard Speakers

A few days ago i found out i have infinitee's in those little circles on the top of my dashboard. The only problem is, they don't work. I have a Panasonic cd/cd-r&rw/mp3 player that's about 4 months old. Should those speakers be running off the controls for the front door speakers, or are they not going to work with my radio?

The Infiniti system has a six channel amplifier to power each of the six speakers. The front channel speakers are the door and dash but they are powered by individual amps. If you connect the dash speakers to the same channel as your door speakers you will change the load on your Panasonic receiver amp. You need to know the impedance rating of the door speakers and the in dash speakers. They are probably 8 or 4 ohm each. Add the two impedences together and divide by two. This is the impedence load you would have if you connect the in dash and in door speakers together. If that resulting impedence is within the spec for your Pioneer unit then go for it. I suspect you will be ok but it is always good to know the specs so that you do not overload your amplifier.

thanks a lot.

I took the grille off the dash speakers and checked them out. Both are blown. I went to the dealer and they said replacements would be 100 each. I then went to circuit city, bought a pair for 50, but they were a size too big, and didn't work reguardless. I figure, unless i find 3'' speakers for a reasonable price, im just gonna leave the blown speakers in the dash and forget about it. Thanks for you help though.

Re: Dashboard Speakers

I happen to have a pair of the Infiniti 3 inch speakers that were from a 98 Eclipse. I bought the complete Infiniti system from a guy with a 98 Eclipse to put in to my 95 Eclipse. I found out that the indash speakers in my 93 are larger than the ones from the Infiniti system so I did not replace them. Send me an e-mail ([email protected]) if you are interested in buying the 3 inch speakers.
