That's because we don't propagate this hobby aggressively enough to make the plastic model division of Tamiya profitable. Don't just buy kits for yourself, but send model kits to your friends and relatives for birthday and christmas.

Anyway, I just want Tamiya to make two kits in 2004. The Mercedes SLR, and Carrera GT with Enzo qualiity. Rest can be taken care of by Fujimi, Aoshima and Hasegawa, and Revell Germany.

Fujimi needs to be much more quality oriented like late '80s, and release the modern MB, BMW etc. The return of Ferrari license should generate some cash.
Aoshima needs to expand their lineups to the exotics.
I want Hasegawa to continue releasing the classics master piece, after the Miura.
Revell Germany has a potential, if they can pull off the Enzo kit at that perfection.

And we have to buy more kits.

Ferrari F2003-GA (Got the AMD kit)
Mercedes SL500 (rebulding the Welly diecast)
Porsche 966 GT2 (modifying the tamiya 996)

Kasso, Revell will be releasing an Escalade kit, and I'm quite sure it will be as good as their excellent Silverado kit. If I'm not mistaken, Escalades use a Northstar, correct? Revell has also tooled this engine before, in their quite pleasing Shelby Series 1 kit.

Don't worry, you oughtn't need Tamiya for your Caddy SUV kit.

What I'd like to see Tamiya tool up, to be frightfully honest, is more of their sports-race car kits. Indeed I'm sure everyone is wondering where the 550 Maranello GTS is (especially after the Le Mans victory) but also there's the question of the Saleen S7, the Pagani Zonda, the Spyker (yes, a Spyker), the Mosler MT900, the Ferrari 333SP (we've waited long enough for this one and a compatriot Riley & Scott), the Morgan Aero 8 (competition or street version, it doesn't matter), the Oreca Viper GTS, or any one of the competition TVR's.

At the least I'd like to see some more reissues. Their GTP/Group C line-up is sorely missed.

Because I can't (in good conscience) purchase and personally justify a Studio 27 or Le Mans Miniatures resin super-kit, Tamiya is the company I turn to for accurate representations of modern sports racers. I can deal with the others for street cars.
