Thumbs up A humorous.. yet sad race (long)

This unlikely duel took place in the streets of San Diego, Ca... and on the 5 freeway going North out of San Diego.

The contenders were....

My company Van... A 1998 Ford E250 Van with a 5.4L SOHC V8

Vs

A guy who resembles this...

Who was driving a 1990 Nissan Sentra with VTEC badge and boxy body kit that did not fit and was unpainted.

Round 1... *ding*

I'm leaving my job site and preparing for the 110 mile trip back home to Long Beach. I work with boats so, I travel up and down the coast all the time. So I'm cruising down this road that heads to the freeway and I see Mr. (Lack of)Speed Racer ahead in the distance. I pay little attention to him cause I'm tired, plus I've got a full can of Pringles chips in my lap and a Vanilla Pepsi in my hand.

As I pull up to a light next to this guy, I notice the VTEC badge on the back of his Nismo rocket. I laugh out loud, ok I wasn't laughing. More like howling. I figured I had to mess with the poster boy for 2Slow2Silly...

I put the Van into neutral and give a few nasty revs while looking down at him. He looks over in a cocky way as if he had a chance... even has the balls to shout to me "Shoot brother, you dont have a chance! It's all about power to weight man!"

Light goes green, He takes off at blinding speed of .0356mph while I put the pedal down as far as it'll go. At first we were basically even, you'd think with a V8 i'd be able to kill him off the line... But Ford put in a motor that actually has good top end pull in a heavy duty vehicle. And with a transmission that has tall gearing it doesn't pull hard till about 3000rpm.... once I hit that spot I pulled past him like nothing. At 50-55mph I let off and hit the hazards... I had to...

Me: 1
Mr. I Paid more for the Vtec Badge than I did my car: 0

Round 2... *ding*

Finally, the freeway... I hop on the freeway and start my two hour journey north to home... about 5 miles up the road there's Mr. Wish I had a SE-R pacing me to my left. I look over and he still wants a piece of me, I figure he wanted to redeem himself and try to take me out with his mighty top end pull... Or something who knows... the fact that he wanted to go again and followed me onto the freeway is beyond me. I think he wanted to take me on where he'd have a better chance of his mighty VTEC badge engaging.

He keeps gunning his motor, trying to egg me on. Now before I continue I'll tell you that just prior to him showing up I was doing 80mph on cruise control. I had to slow down for traffic and was waiting for it to smooth back out before resuming my 80mph cruise speed. He points forward telling me he wants to go for it. I finally give in hoping this will make him go away. He puts 3 fingers up, and starts his honking. On his third honk he downshifts and guns it. I just simply hit the resume button on my cruise control which made the Van automatically put the pedal to the floor and it just started to walk away from him from a 50mph roll. As I passed him, I made sure he saw me eating my pringles and take a drink from my pepsi.

After I passed him I just kept going. I hit my 80mph cruise and just flew home... poor fella must of been hurt that some huge Van him out. But then again, I don't really care about his feelings cause he's a dumb dumb.

Me: 2
Mr. I scare women away with my car: 0

Winner by TKO: Me. Horah!

Fun times....

wow i'm a nissan nut but i've never seen a sentra like that in life. it looks more like an old NX pulsar. now those cars when new did 0-60 in 12 seconds. or someting even slower then that. lolz but that was pretty funny how you beat him just by using cruise control. lolz and its soo typical of ford to do someting like that, put a high end motor in a cargo van. ( ford guys please dont' flame me, its a joke, and you guys know that back then in the 70's and 80's ford always wanted to be different and cheap just as how they centrifugal clutchs for their torque converter lock up, instead of hydraulic lock up and stuff like that)

Re: A humerous.. yet sad race (long)

AHAHAHA.

Funny shit, man.

I actually had a race with another B13 Sentra (same body-style as mine) last week, and I never posted it, since it was too easy. It was against a Sentra XE, with a whopping 110MPH.

Anyhow, that was priceless. If you can make it out here to AZ with the van, I have either another Sentra for you to race...or my buddies' V10 Panel van.

I don't care how refreshing Vanilla Pepsi is. I'm boycotting the product because they insinuate that there's something fundamentally uncool with REO Speedwagon. And REO Speedwagon kicks ASS!

But Pringles are good, and so is this kill. ^_^

I think you're giving yourself too much credit, afterall it was the van that did most of the work.
