h22 auto??
just wondering what it would take to swap an h22 into my car, which is an automatic btw. i hear i'll need an auto h22 tranny and an ecu? is it worth it to do? i hear it will be really expensive to convert it to manual so i wanna leave it auto. just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the situation. thanks in advanced...

It would cast you the same amount if you get auto/manual but the labor is high to convert from auto to manual.
I am getting it done as i type and it's costing me 2,200.00 for the Engine/Tranny manual the auto-to-manual conversion parts 450.00 and the labor is 1,000.00 for engine installation and 400.00 for auto-to-manual installation. If you want my op go with the manual it's a good investmant and more power to the padel when you need it. |

The Auto to Manual is expensive on the labor, but certain places have good deals on engines.
If your gonna race the engine then go with that conversion....but, like in my case, im going for the show look.. I found a website that specializes in h22 swaps and theirs come with motor/mounts/ecu/tranny/intakeManifold and are all j-spec 220hp with about 20k miles. Im gonna do that swap also but stay auto cuz its a show car..and with a clear hood and glow kits in engine bay it'll look sweet too.... If anyone wants the swap site hit me up on AIM "shavedupaccord"

you can get an automatic h22 much cheaper than a manual one....in fact, the shop I talked to lately was willing to give me the transmission for free, and only to pay a $25 charge for them to find me an automatic ECU....I havn't taken them up on it yet...but most shops wind up dumping the auto trannys he told me...they just don't sell.
No reason not to do it, lots of power gains, and it will just be about a tenth slower in the quarter mile in the end, assuming the 5 speed driver hits every shift perfectly and launches perfect.......doubtful. - Nathan |
