muh first race, vs. mustang gt

finally managed to race someone today. i was at the stoplight waiting to get on the hiway, two lanes go into it... and there was a probe gt next to me. im just like come'on, this is easy i didn't even accellerate at all when the lite turned, and i doubt the probe even knew i had a fast car. so right when we were going to yield i punched on the gas and just flew by him, he stayed back because i think the sound intimidated him

then when im in the far left lane going about 60, some late model mustang gt with racing stripes and altezzas pulled behind me and started to ride my ass. i let him ride my ass for about a minute and then i just gunned it. he stayed on me until i hit about 105 and i was about 12 car lengths ahead of him. then right when i let off of the pedal i had a hugeass backfire that was probably heard about 1/4mi away. i smiled, first kill in about 4 days the only other cars i raced were a stage 4 mustang gt and a stage 4 wrx, both of which killed me.

then im going on the hiway getting on to the other hiway, when out of the blue i see the probe gt coming behind me. im like wtf, what is he thinking? he just seen me kill the mustang... so getting on the other hiway, i was trying to hold the turn going about 80 while trying to not let the gt pass me. i was at about half throttle but i knew he was laying it all down, lol. it's hard to hold a turn with a v8 under the hood! anyways i did, then coming on the other hiway i just gunned it again and flew about 15 cars ahead of him. then when i was in the far left lane i slowed down, then about 10 seconds later i seen the probe go by in the far right lane getting off the exit, and the mustang was following him i guess the mustang had to kill another car to get his dignity back.

anyways my car is getting painted right now and im swapping in a new interior, rims and tires, so i wont be racing again til friday. more to come im sure!

edit: it was most likely a 97-98 mustang gt, and it was a hardtop (not convertible). im still waiting to go against a 99+

Not many things seem to get the job done better than a Chevy under the hood.

Good going man. I'm counting the minutes till you IM me and start asking how to make it go faster...

What engine do you have in there?

I've got an ex whose mom has a 300ZX like that, only white, and they're complaining about the engine going bad on it. Project anyone???

i know its quite a project and $$$ to put it in, here's a guy who put in a 355 and it cost him 8 g's just in parts http://www.nitrophotos.com/cost.html - and that was a guy who did it himself. mine was professionally done in phoenix, you should see how they set it up, it's amazing. it has a very nice cooling fan, like a 16". i will take more pics and put them up here once the paint job is done (friday). i'll also get it dynoed and post the dyno slip here next week.

i'd say it would be cheaper to put in a 300zx tt engine... that would give it some juice.

I def say that qualifies as a sleeper.
I can't even imagine the look on my face if i saw him pullin up to me and when he steps on it hearing V-8 rumble instead of import buzzing. TOO GOOD!

you ain't getting it! i thought about turning around and selling it for a quick profit but i am starting to like it. it needs a LOT of work, ttops leak, lining leaks, paint job, full interior..... but i already ordered all of it. no waiting months and months for everything, my full restore, with the exception of the racing seats, will be complete in less than 3 weeks. yay.

and i am going to get a dual magnaflow muffler and single 3" piping.... just so i look like an import - haha. that way i can piss everyone off even more.
