e36 318ti alarm problem

I need some help. I have a 1996 318ti, and I was in a little bit of a fender bender. I dented the hood up pretty good, but had it all fixed. I got the car back, and now when I try and use the keyless entry, it beeps three times and does nothing. I thought that maybe my computer just needs to be reset, like when an oil change is done, but I don't know. If anybody could tell me what's up, it would be much appreciated.

I have had this problem!! The 3 beeps from your alam is telling you that a pin switch is open doors , hood or trunk. Since you were in a front fender bender make sure the pin switch under the hood is connected or even still there. How bad was the wreck did you have to have any doors fixed? this could also be your problem. let me know.

Makes sense

I think that is probably the problem. I had to completly replace the hood of my car, and it would make sense that that would be the problem. I going to check that out today. Thank you so much for your reply!

Yes, he is correct. One of the triggers is an open circuit. More than likely your hood pin. Your insurance should pay for it (that's if you turned it into your insurnace.)

fixed it....sort of.

Yeah that was exactly the problem. I think when the hood was replaced they didn't put the piece on the underside of the hood that closes the circuit on the sensor. Im going to go talk to the guy that fixed it and see if he has it, and if he doesn't then I'm either going to order the piece or duct tape it down. Just kidding! Knowing me, I would forget to remove the duct tape when I sell the car. Well thanks a lot for your help!
