RX-7 vs RX-8

As u can see by my name, I'm obviously into skylines, but that doesn't mean i cant like Mazda's right?

1993 RX-7 (stock)
2002 RX-8 (stock)

which car is better for drag / track / anything performance / potential aftermarket???

It kinda pisses me off when some kids in class keep talking about crap they don't know and just always go for looks in cars. But one kid talked about how great the RX-8 was, so i just wanted a comparison by you car gurus =]

The RX7 is still a far superior car...it weighes around 2700-2800 lbs...255HP twin turbo Wankel rotary engine...0-60 in 5.1 seconds...50/50 weight distribution...and responds well to mods...

The RX8 although it says that it has 250HP obviously doest not...Mazda had to re-rate its HP claim to 230 since the HP on the dyno was 180rwhp...sucks...anyways...it's around 3000 lbs I think...and it's NA...so it is not going to be as fast (0-60 in 6 seconds I've seen) or handle as well...even though they do claim 50/50 weight distrib.

I like the RX-7 but on a rotary engine i'd much rather have it be N/A, so i'd choose the RX-8.

I would take the RX-8 for the reason that as it's a new car, hopefully there will be more technicians trained to work on them. Granted I wouldnt buy one the first year of production anyways, but yeah that's my reason.

In all the categories you listed - the RX7 is far out ahead of the RX8. That may change someday, but for now, the RX8 is the ugly sibling.
