D16Z6 in 93 Civic EX question
I buddy of mine has a 93 civic ex that he recently had the motor replaced with one from a bone yard. When he got it back I poped the hood and noticed a Vtec soliniod (atleast thats what i think it is) over in the left side of the valve cover - firewall side. So i looked at the model of the motor and it says D16Z6 when I looked that up online it said it was a vtec motor. Now how do we test to see if this is hooked up? there are wires going to it but I doubt the junk yard swapped any computers or anything? I do have a computer out of a 95 civic ex (vtec) but will just adding this computer make the vtec work? can i jump a wire to turn the vtec on? how do i test for it?
Thanks Kyle

The 92-95 EX came with the D16Z6, so all they did was pull the motor out, and put the exact same kind back in. You don't need to do any wiring, or swapping of ECU's.
