Help!! Airbrush not working anymore!! :(((

Well i have this brush (Its from Revell):

I painted the bottom of the car the day before yesterday, cleaned the brush properly (also with that stick through the small hole) and stored it. Today i wanted to spray some more and poured the revell color and pressed the button and only air went through. First i thoght the color was too thick (and it really is thick!) so i diluted it but there was no effect. I saw that the air paint wasnt going up at all. Then i just tryed to spray the diluter (or whatever its called) but very little of it (and a little paint left from before) came out. Whats wrong? Any ideas?

maybe your can of air don'T have enugh psi to sucj the paint...

First airbrush I had was like this one, but 1 can of air was only good for 1 kit, 2 max... this end to be very expensive..

Everything you're describing says to me that the nozzle is clogged on the inside, especially the fact that it wouldn't spray even thinners and when it did you got some of the previous color out.

Try soaking the nozzle in some thinners/dilutant for a while and then spray JUST thinners through to thoroughly clean the nozzle, if it won't spray thinners, it's not going to spray paint.

On another note, when you're spraying, stand the propellant can in some warm water, this will help maintain a constant pressure for spraying.

Well i was paying attention at that. It was like this: when there was the normal paint it didnt suck it at all. When there was diluter it sucked it up but it didnt spray it. Is the "angle" very important - i mean the thingy i screw up and down, because i tryed that too and it didnt work out. Damn

OK, how much did you thin the paint?
This may be the source of your problem, your paint may be too thick.

Thin the paint so it is around the consistency of milk, this will give you better atomisation and flow as well as make it easier for the airbrush to suck up.

Also, like I mentioned before, try warming the propellant can to give you better pressure.

Pretty good advise so far. Those airbrushes are quite simple and there's not alot that can go wrong with them. You've either got:

1. A clog in the tube/nozzle
2. Paint too thick
3. Not enough pressure

If you've cleaned out the tube/nozzle, then I expect it's #2 and you just need to thin out the paint more. Try filling the jar with water and spraying that. If it works, then paint thickness is definitely your problem.

sounds like the same problem i have with mine, its not the same as this, but i have the cheapest airbrush from testors, its a decent brush for the price, but i am unable to spray paints that have small metal flakes, the paints that "shimer" when they are applied, i had alot of trouble airbrushing these types of paints.

I'm with Murray Kish on this one. Try some water as it sounds like your paint is still way too thick.
