1998 Cavalier blower motor,A/C ,Rear Def. not working anymore.Help.

I have a 1998 Cavalier. The blower motor was going in it as I had to keep tapping it with a hammer to get it working again. Anyways, the other night, it stopped completely along with the LEDS <and power I guess> for the A/C and Rear Defroster. I checked all fuses..no problem..all good. No power actually getting to the back wires on the back window defroster.
Trying to figure out what could be the problem? Could the relay <fuse> on the fuse box in the engine compartment cause this? Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanx in advance

Re: 1998 Cavalier blower motor,A/C ,Rear Def. not working anymore.Help.

My wiring diagram shows a 30 amp blower fuse in the engine compartment power center. It shows a 10 amp A/C fuse also. There are seperate relays in there as well. My car isn't available right now to go and look to see what the arrangement is. You might be able to "rob" another fuse or relay from another position and try it out. Just make sure it's the same part number or amp rating.

Thank you for that reply, but have already done that. Then my orange check engine light came on, but have since got it back off again. Still didn't do anything when I replaced that relay. Was wondering if I should go purchase one, or is that not the problem? I used one that was two over from it, that read Cooling Fan.

Ok.I replaced the blower motor, and still NOTHING Replaced the relay switch on the fender in the engine compartment..nothing. Any other suggestions?? I didn't put the blower motor back in, just in case it might be the resistor ?? But with the A/C lites not working and the rear defroster not working..got me baffled here
Ok, more progress here I hope. Finally, found that the HVAC fuse was blown. Replaced it and everything works again...ALMOST. The new blower motor I put in blows the HVAC fuse also. Anyone have any thoughts on this?? One more thing..the blower motor I replaced the bad one with, is used one, but they assured me it was tested and good.
Any help would be appreciated

Ok, more progress here I hope. Finally, found that the HVAC fuse was blown. It is a 10 AM red fuse. Replaced it and everything works again...ALMOST. The new blower motor I put in blows the HVAC fuse also. If I keep the heater control to OFF, everything works fine...rear defroster, etc...If I turn on the control to any speed, it blows a fuse.Anyone have any thoughts on this?? One more thing..the blower motor I replaced the bad one with, is used one, but they assured me it was tested and good.

Ok..gotta be the wiring. UNplugged the blower motor..turning on the switch, still blows a fuse. Relay switch pulled out..still blows a fuse. Tried to look, but like you can see anything up in behind the dash there. Guess better start selling my soul to pay for the repair

Just to help anyone else with this problem out there, it turned out to be my rear defroster. When I unplugged it from the back windshield, the blower motor worked just fine So, who needs the rear defroster anyways
