reset the light.

there is a yellow plug under the dash that has two wires going into it. the plug is plugged into an empty socket by the fuse pannel. take that plug out, place a jumper wire into the two holes connecting the two. turn the ignition key on.(lights on do not start) the srs light will go off, within 4 seconds, unplug one side of the jumper wire, when the srs light comes back on plug the jumper back in,(within 4 seconds) the light will blink twice and go out. unplug the jumper and turn the ignition key off. wait 15 secongs, then start your car. the memory will be reset. replace the plug and you're set. i am an ase certified mechanic and can't believe that we have a forum that noone will share this information on. what is this place for anyway?. sorry you had to go through this. but i feel that " Buy a scan tool " is the most stupidest responce. if i wanted to spend $900.00 on a tool, i'd pay the $200.00 to have the dealer do it. my goodness.

Re: Re: reset srs light, failed ???

If all else fails, you could probably try to simply disconnect the battery for about a minute (approximately 13 seconds at least) and the car's computer will usually reset, on a Honda. It works on resetting the check engine light (if the problem has been taken care of). However, If you have a stock radio make sure it does not have an anti theft code. This will trip it. It's really simple, guess it's worth a shot.

1. How did the light come on in the 1st place ?, airbags deployed then youll need to replace the srs unit, it cannot be reset

reset only works if you unpluged the airbag or something gone wrong out of the sky light blue

1. disconnecting the battery wont do a dam thing and also it wont reset the check engine light on "hondas" this works on all cars, but it doesnt reset it. , when you disconnect the battery it looses all power computer resets it self and there is NO DATA in the computer it self and it cannot read any problems your car has, but after you drive for a wile around 100 miles, your check engine light will come back, you need to replace the sensors on the exhaust or main fold, Auto zone does a FREE check on cars 96 and up

2. take the radio out, get the serial off it, call your car make dealer and ask for a code, will take 3 sec

what happened to the original question? it appears that the only way to clear an errant SRS light is to take in to the dealer and take it hard right in the wallet! one last thought, anybody? Tiger_maverick?

I told you it all depends on HOW your light came on. you can try the reset again see if it will work (play with it a little maybe your doing it wrong)
Also this reset only works on FEW makes, Honda, Acura, Maybe Nissan ?
defently doesn not work on any of the american cars
but if the Module is bad youll need to replace it and it cost around 300+ bucks depending on your car

I can also Reset the SRS Module it self if your intrested for $120 + you ship the srs unit to me, i can only do this for any Imports from 95-05, no american cars so dont ask

what car you got ?

Re: Re: Re: Re: reset srs light, failed ???

The key words are "IF THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF". I've done it before. It worked just fine. Also, if the problem has not been taken care of, the computer will usually sense it before 100 miles most instances. Check engine basically deals with emissions and that does not instantly mean sensors in the exhaust.

If there is no data in the computer then it would have to default to the original settings. If it doesn't find anything wrong after that, why would the light come back on? It takes less than a minute to try, so what's the harm?
