Sony Subs

I have two sony 12" subs in the back of my car. These are the new P5 series. My system hits way harder than any other subs but not louder than the W7 but who does right? Now why do my subs get such a bad rep? Also most people do get ripped off at Best Buy, but what those people didn't realize is that the prices aren't fixed you can bargin with them. I had a quote for around $1,100 but they came down two around $850 with 4 year warranties on everything. So why is everyone hating on sony and Best Buy?

NOOBS, explains the Sony's are even decent theory. I went to NOPI today and everyone who had Sonys either had them off or would refuse to turn them on. Tells you something about the crap quality. Everyone else would turn theirs on, even a guy with JL1s which are like antiques.

well Sony's Xplode headunits break...a lot
Their subs are hyped way too much, they spend all their time and money making them look fancy instead of performance
You can get something much better for the same price or cheaper

I hate to say it, but I guarantee you my single 12 is louder and more accurate than any single or dual Sony 12, and cheaper...which is why until I hear something better I will never leave elemental designs

i doubt that your one 12 is going to be clearer or hit harder. most subs, expect the new JL, get distorted at high volume. Mine get rid of the distortion waves and hits harder at high volume. The new one from sony from the P5 is close to the W7 by only couple hundred watts and still everyone says they break and explode and cause mass destruction. The old sonys are crap but the new ones are way better and hit harder than other companies. Don't knock it until you tried it yourself.

I've heard Sony subs...defintely nothing to write home about

and ME mag just did a review of the 12A (my sub) and they hit 129db on a single 12 in a .68cf sealed box, not even the w7 can do that. And this sub has perfect sound quality, I have never heard an imperfection in the sound, even on songs like "fear factory - machine debaser" or "mudvayne - not falling". It's also louder and has MUCH better SQ than a friend's system with 2 jl 12w3's

I do agree. while the sonys can hit hard the SQ is not verry good. i care more about replication slope than kick myself as i work with audio and video as a prefession and i do hear the diffrence. if you get a good deal and you like them i say go for it. personaly sony will not be getting my money it will probably be Resonant Enginering for a 12" XXX series sub as it probably has the bes SQ of anything on my market. if all you want is SPL sonys are pretty good as long as you dont just push the listed MAX watts and actualy fucking lookup and push the RMS on them they shouldnt blow.
