Amp help for Sony Xplod 10" subs
i just got 2 10" subs from my friend for $150 (sony xplod... 700watts each)
would a 1600 watt amp (400x4) work good for them if i bridged it to 800x2 (that works right?) then ran the subs off the amp and my 4 speakers off my cd deck? is this amp kit good enough for a 1600 watt amp? ^^^ http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38638

Yeah, it would work, cuz you want your amp to be rated higher than your subs. This way you won't overheat your amp, and you can always turn your amp down, but you can't turn down the amount of power your subs draw. As for the kit, I'm not so sure. You might actually want to try and run 2-gauge wire as a power wire.

most amps require a 4 guage wire... mine which is a 400 watt amp specifies in the installation instructions to only use 4 guage wire.. and if you have ever seen 2 guage wire you will know that shit is thick, and will take a lot of thinking, and trodding to hide that under your side kickpanels, let alone running it through the firewall... but instead of buying a kit ( I don't think they have a kit for 2 guage wire) I would suggest buying the wire yourself, and get your own fusebox, and most definitly get a capacitor for the juice that you will be drawing from that battery.. (mine now that it is primed and setup draws enough that the lights flicker when I have everything running, I have to get a capacitor...) I would most deifinitly suggest you get a professional to install this if you have never installed anything yourself before.. 1600 watts is nothing to mess with, and neither is the wiring, and possible shorts your could create if you don't know what you're doing.

Well, I can't imagine the amplifier deiveres 1600 WRMS. 1600 watts equals over 250 amperes, so 4 ga wires would be inadequate, even just for a few feet.
What amplifier do you have, and how long does the wire need to be?
