Lost Engine Power...
Experienced a new phenomenon today whilst driving my 98' Chevy k1500 5.7L up a steep incline. During the ascent, my engine lost nearly all power. I pushed the gas pedal to the floor, and simply watched as my RPMs fell and fell and fell, evetually maintaining at about 1200 RPMs.
Once on level ground, my truck had lost all its rapid acceleration capability as it slowly made its way back up to 65-MPH. Seems, my engine can no longer make it past 2200/2500 RPMs. I checked the exhaust/muffler system, but found no visible signs of disrepair. Given this is probably a compression problem, could I have blown out a gasket/seal somewhere? If so, which ones should I be looking for, as there's nothing visible on the exterior of the engine block. Thanks, MD |

Update,
Seems my loss of RPMs has to do with a failed fuel pump. Wow! That is going to cost some $$$$$$$$ to fix! Oh well, Life goes on |
