Re: overheating-lost engine power v8 ls 2000

Welcome to the forum!

Try having the diagnostic codes scanned to see if it shows anything. Many of the chain auto parts stores offer this service free of charge. Few will be familiar with the Lincoln LS though, so kindly request the exact code number rather than their interpretation of the code.

There are several threads on this forum related to misfires and Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) issues, try the "Search this forum" feature for details on what others have had success with.

Re: overheating-lost engine power v8 ls 2000

Please know that when the LS goes into "reduced power mode" it misfires on purpose. Every other time that each cylinder should fire it doesn't (no fuel is injected). It does this to move cool fresh air through to cool the overheating engine.
Fix you overheat problem before worrying about any misfiring. If it only misfires when overheated, then you don't have a misfire problem.

Re: overheating-lost engine power v8 ls 2000

I just had overheating issues with my 2002 V8 also. I had to replace the leaking cooling fan/motor and the leaking hydraulic unit. Not cheap. Parts were $400 for each for a total of $800. Labor was additional. But it is all fixed and running like new.
