Need help with a color!

Ok, my dad and I are getting a little closer and i think its a good time to pick out a color we like. If you guys would could you post as many differt pictures of the mclaren with different colors. It would be aswome. And also my dad talked to some guy in England who works with mclaren and he said that the High downforce kit ruins the look of the mclaren, so if we ever do get one it will probably be without it. Sp pics without the downforce would be better but either way is fine.THANKS!!

I'm very partial to the blue F1s. Specifically, if I could have any standard roadcar it would have to be XP4 - the blue color is simply striking. Also, the blue color of the Christie's auction car (which did feature the LM-Kit/High Downforce Pkg) was also incredible. Search this forum for photos of each of those F1s.

As far as my opinions on the other colors - There are too many silver ones so I would rule that out even though it "is the color for the car". I don't think the car looks good in black. Also, I would rule out options like white and yellow - they just seem to look odd on the car. Some of the gunmetal or dark gray colors look decent, but most that I have seen are too brown for my tastes. Green - specifically a British Racing Green - would be a very nice compliment to the car. Look for photos of the #073 car or XP5 if you think you'd be interested in green.

Silver

When you're considering a color for a car like the Mclaren, i really don't think "just because it's a more common color" is reason to not choose a color(silver). It's all a matter of opinion, the owner's opinion, tbh.
I personally love the silver (or shades of) paint scheme. This car's shape shines through in silver... kinda like someone poured liquid metal over a naked chassis and this awesome shape took form.
Plus its understated enough but doesn't mask the details like a black paintjob.
I'm just a fan of understatement

I'd take a Porsche Carrera GT in Titanium Silver too (Since I'm dreaming)

..an Enzo in black (like Jay Kay's car)
and a Pegani Zonda Roadster in Yellow.

in my dreams, the F1 has always been a silver/gunmetal type color. but hey, thats just me.

if ur getting a McLaren, dont limite ur ideas to just basic colors (blue, red, yellow, black, etc.). try going the DK way and have a shifting orange paintjob. the XP4 looks great in blue, but its been done already. personally, i believe that each McLaren should have a distinct color that makes it easier to identify over other F1 cars.

if u can find someone who knows how to do it, try getting the "MystiChrome" paint that is seen on the special edition Ford vehicles. it would MOST DEFINANTLEY set ur car apart from the others. the only problem with MystiChrome is that only the people at Ford know how to do it so its going to be difficult to find someone that can.

also, i always kinda liked a dark purple color. i dont know if its already been done, i havent seen any pics.

here r some pics of a MystiChrome Cobra Mustang. notice how the shifting colors as the camera takes shots from different angles:

right column, 4th from above, the clinic car in yellow.....
definately the best mac ever!!!
2nd would be a jet black one, like 072 but without hdf kit, and with cognac leather interior.
search for this thread: "which interior?"
btw, jkbon is a magician with photoshopping, he can help you

I actually really like the Black or white, a contrasting interior never hurts either.

also the charcoal gray/grey car that was at fox valley i think is one of the best looking hdf cars besides the blue one, i'm not keen on the gonzales' black one

EDIT (YAY! I DID IT!) : Stratoraptor, the color you are talking about isn't just avaliable on fords, you can but it, it is an 2000 option on the tvr tuscan and is avaliable for the others i believe (tvrfreak, do u know?) but it is extremely expensive and has to be put down in multiple coats. it is a very nice color in person, i saw an e36 m3 4 door with it last weekend and it looked awesome

I like cars that seem to be different colors from different angles, but not when all the colors are visible at the same time. Cars like the McLaren are full of curves, so you can see all the colors from each angle. A bit busy and childish in a "look at me, look at me" sense, and not at all nice IMO. I'd much rather have a slightly more discreet but very nice metallic color--anything except silver/grey and dull British racing green or black--those are too boring and the black hides a lot of detail.

Mid to dark blues and dark reds seem to suit the non-HDF cars best. For HDF cars, mid blues and whites and oranges look great and are contrasted nicely by the black carbon fibre trim, sponsor stickers, etc., IMO.

TVR and a lot of other manufacturers can paint your car any color you like. As long as they have a chip to work from, or the paint mix formula, they can make the paint for you all day long. They like to charge an arm and a leg for this, though.
