Need help with color!

This is the color i need. Revell instruction say gloss dark red but its not even close. here are my options.

A. Tamiya Mica Red over what base coat?
B. Tamiya acrylic mix: red+black+?

Im stuck and i dont know if this color is actually metallic. Any suggestions? the decals are maroon but they dont really match color of car nor did they in real life. Help please!

Re: Need help with color!

Mmm. That car always looked metallic or pearl finish to me, although I never saw it in real life, just TV and pictures. Simple red would not look right. Mica red would be a good place to start, maybe with some black or dark blue added to darken it a touch? Experiment and spray some small quantities until you find something you are happy with. Sorry I can't help any more than that.

Just had another thought. GSI Creos Cranberry Red Pearl might be close to the colour you're looking for.

That sounds spot on Phil as its more pearl than metallic. problem is, Creos is completely unavailiable to me other then there jars of primer. ill experiment with some blue bases then red mica over top. thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Need help with color!

If you're interested in a Tamiya acrylic option, try gloss red mixed with gumetal. It's a pearl instead of metalic, but it's easy to get, you could control the color easily, and it would look sharp.
