Car Wash
Since the advent of the Automated car wash, the word car wash brings up all sorts of conatations of this big ass bulky machine which has a one size fits all approach to washing the box on wheels.
Car wash machines have there place alright, but if you really want to do your baby justice, wash it by hand... SO... What type of carwash do you prefer? and why?

I HATE CAR WASHS
I always wash my cars myself ... to many bad experiences with Car Wash things.
![]() I just picked up some Mothers car wash stuff the other day. Smells like Original Hubba Bubba or maybe Juicy Fruit gum... no sh1t.:jump: Always take the car for a blat after it's washed, to dry it off. It left my car really shiny. I like it. Chris:ylsuper

Hi there bren....
...well,this is the sort of stuff that pays my salary, so I've used just about every type and brand available in the UK over the years.......and in my humble opinion, you cannot beat Autoglym Shampoo and Conditioner.......it sounds poncy, doesn't foam well in the bucket, and you wonder why you bothered.....until you actually use it. It cuts through road grime like nothing else, and leaves no streaky mess at all.A quick chammy dry, and the polish gleams like new. Trust me, it's the best. Do you get this stuff over there dude? laters, Jon.

Autoglym
Hiya Jon,
I don't that I have seen it in the stores before. I think I may have seen mention of it online. Interesting to note that it does'nt foam up in the bucket much. Now that in itself usually stands as the classic indicator that you have a soapy foamy wash and it is going to work well. But obviously looks can decieve. That's good to know, as many people expect to see bubbles... I will try Autoglym out if we have it. (I'll start on my mum's car, it needs a wash) There's nothing worse than a dirty ride. (I spose a broken one would be worse...) Hey Chilla, yes, Mothers has the smell of the original Hubba Bubba. BUT, it still tastes like dishwash :flash: yuck! I do the same thing, wash rinse, drive, towel down, then polish (if required) It's good stuff...

There are few things I trust when washing my car..
However the only things I do trust are Water, a sponge and Me.. After spending some time Valeting cars I've seen what some things can do to your Paint work.. The only wax or Polish I use is Mothers or Meguirs.. Catch ya's.. Phil.. P.S. Nice Message Board

hmmm if it hasn't been washed in like a year (trust me the van hasn't been washed in years now) then i would wash it by hand because with old dried up crude, washin it in a car wash is just like throwin money away. i had to go through it 4 times to get it to look decent. if i were to do it by hand it would take me a good 2 hours and that includes the wax. but if i wasn't soo lazy even to drive to the car wash, i would bring it there once a month soo it stays nice and clean, not that it matters anymore.

Definitely would not take my baby through a car wash.
Scratches, swirl marks, and not coming clean anyway. Even if it's not that long since the last wash, I found the few times I took my old GTS thru a car wash. Gotta do it by hand. We use just about the whole Meguiars range, and they come up really really nice. :coolguy:

I use "Mothers California Gold", Towel Dry and thats it.
My car is normally Garaged and under sheets, after a good wash it still looks like it did when I bought it 18 months ago. A friend of mine who is quite enthusiastic about washing his car, told me to fill the bucket without getting excessive foam. Anyone else heard that before? |

i heard that those car wash t hings with the big brushes, scratch your car as they rotate at high speeds.
I personally use Turtle Wax. I wouldn't put my car through a car wash. Does anybody know where i could get that stuff you put on windscreens / windows so that water runs straight off your windows when it rains?? |

Rain-X, Even the Warehouse sells it.
I noticed that the Mothers carwash makes the water run off the windscreen a bit better.. |
