finally got a bike
well, you all are probably gonna think I have a deathwish, but I got a 01 R1 today, 6600 miles, new tires flawless cond. except one small scratch on top of tank so you know it isnt from a wreck. blue windscreen, a helmet with blue faceshield and blue lights. It is a SWEET bike, and I know everyone says start small but I dont se why, I know if you are a complete nutball who will do anything then yes, youll hurt yourself. but ive done a few wheelies in first for 10 feet but nothing longer than that cuz i dont wanna go over on the bike and dont have enough practice on this bike yet to try something like that for any lngth of road.(and before I get crap about that, I wasnt dumb, I did it in a huge empty parking lot when all the stores were closed and it was deserted). the power is insane though, 60 in 6th, floor it and a couple seconds and your over 100. anyways, is there anything special I should know about to take extra care of on this bike? any unsuual traits that the R1 has that are normal though? just anything you could tell me about my purchase(besides how stupid you think it is) would be appreciated. also about the twitchy throtle, is the R1 supposed to have that cuz I sure didnt notice it, unless you mean it just revs like hell when you give it gas, but to me its predictable whats gonna happen.

oh yeah, for sure ill do that, "LOL" and why not show me the sites, I got the bike, Ive gotten past my first 24 hours, which I know doesnt say much, but it was 24 hours of pussy driving, ive been on it, taken corners fairly fast, done "moderate wheelies" and such, as far as I see it, do a few things and your safe, always let the tires warm up before you do any spirited riding, slow down to a sped where you are 150% sure you could go that fast around the corner and acclerate(very slowly) through the corner until you dont wanna push it no more, and NEVER floor it in first gear, and always pay attention for animals, rocks, and such and your fine. if you get in trouble pull the clutch, and brake. whats so hard? I mean, not showing me the sittes wont make me return the bike, but maybe Ill learn something good. and oh, if you dont hear form me ina couple weeks anymore dont expect i dided, im just gone fishing.

ok i'm a little confused by this. I'll say it i'm not a sport bike rider but the first one i've riden was a R6 never had a problem with it. i started riding on a 250 for a week went right to a 750 after it never laid a bike down no probs ever so far and hope to keep it this way. I understand you guys want to help him be a good safe rider and in your views hes blown you off why won't you show him sites that could help him even though you disagree with his purchase y not help him still maybe keep him safe? it kinda seem like a one stikre your out deal and giving him some help now might keep his ass from meeting a tree (no offece to your riding abilty)

Well im not gonna say how u made a bad purchase cause its ur life and ur money. Some people can start out on a sport bike and are fine possibly even an r1 but the first day u get it and ur doin wheelies and goin 100 mph it cant be good. I thought i got a pretty powerful bike for my first bike but i can guarantee you i wasn't even thinkin about poppin a wheelie or goin over 60 mph its just common sense. All im sayin is you have a very badass and VERY FAST bike. Take it easy dont try to master the bike in the first week cause that is one bike that u wont be able to and if you try u'll probably end up flat on the pavement. I think if you have some sense and take it slow and respect the power of the bike you'll be ok. as for some links check out www.uponone.com if you go to the links section they've got links for just about everything... u might want to check out some of the videos to see what happens when people to stupid shit too. Make sure ur wearin some gear too
