which trans?

Hello all. I have a 1993 ford aerostar xl, 3.0 v6, 2wd. I think the tranny is goin out, it slips out of gear(mostly 1st but it'll do it in any gear), and won't go into 1st sometimes, till you give it some gas It doesn't do it everytime, but it's becoming much more frequent. And it's not just when I 1st start it, I can drive it for 30 minutes, with no slip, then all of a sudden it slips outta gear, or I stop and it won't go into 1st.

The trans fluid level is fine, and I had it changed recently. It was slipping before the change and did'nt get better or worse afterwards. Sounds like the tranny's going out, no?
So I'm looking for transmissions, I know it's a A4LD,but there are several different tag ids, and I don't knowhow to find out which I need. And what about using a tranny from different years?

Did you change the trans filter???? I have a 89 that was doing the same thing untill I changed the filter.......A tranny from another year should work as longs as its for a 3.0l v6

how many miles did it have on it. alot of transmission shops tell you that if it has been normally change and it has more then 100 k miles not to change it.i have an 93 aerostar and i had the tranny fuild changed and ended up blewing the modularor vavle on the side it and would slip in and out of gear when i wanted too. check your modulaor vavle frist
