Brake Lines and Pads

I have a 92 civic hatchback cx and it needs new brake lines and pads. i was looking around and thought the aem brake pads and neuspeed brakelines would be good, but i don't really know what the best would be for my car...any info would be good. thanks

also my car is smoking. i don't know what it is but i'm thinking it the catalytic converter but i don't know. i haven't got it looked at yet. any thoughts on what it might be?

As far as brake lines go, any brand stainless steel work. Pads are a a dime a dozen and as far as they go......it's not a big deal.

Where is your car somking from. Even if you cat has gone bad there should be little to no smoke. There's a bunch of people that don't run cats and I bet you could'nt tell the difference if they rolled by (except the loud exhaust sound). Headgasket maybe???

Brake pads do make a difference & I would not buy AEM for this. Stick with a company that deals with brakes, not a bunch of everything. EBC has some nice pads which I use Green Stuff for the street & Red Stuff if/when I ever go autocross or some track time. The red's would not be good for the street - they are noisy & function best when HOT. For brake lines I would go with Goodridge or Neuspeed.

EBC & Goodridge can be found @ www.tirerack.com

Where is it smoking from? If tail-pipe, what color is it? Check you oil & coolant - levels & colors for starters.

Brake pads do make a difference but with stock rotors and calipers there is still no point. You'd just be wasing money especially on the OEM small ass CX front rotors and calipers. Cheap ass replacement pads are enough for a 1.5L motor in a light ass hatch. Let's not get technical on this one and keep it real. So...... back at you and
