Water logged engine....Woops!

The title says it all. I have removed the spark plugs, cranked the engine and blown most of the water out. Got my lady running last night, drove her 5 miles and then she came to a sputter blowing HUGE clouds of grey/black smoke out her exhast pipe. Now, I had checked the oil before I did anything that day and it was fine. When she took her smokey dump, she was bone DRY. I think that water was in the oil and it evaporated, that's my only guess for the missing oil. We replced the oil and she ran like a champ the rest of the night. This afternoon though the check engine light came on and she started sputter again. ANY IDEAS???? My next move is to drain my transmission fluid (probably water in it too) and clean my battery cable connections. ANY IDEAS????????

I think you are incredibly lucky that you didn't hydrolock it. Drive it around some more, because the smoke could just be water and carbon crap in exhaust system making its way out.

I'd still be on the lookout for tweaked parts (rods, pistons), or a BHG, which could the source of your smoke.

How'd you get water in the engine in the first place?

Well, I drove through a flooded end of my apt complex during a storm. A VERY large tree came done RIGHT next to my car and I wanted to move it. I have taken it to have the sensor's read and apparantly I may either have a wet sensor, or a bad sensor (probably fried!). In any event, I consider mysely LUCKY that I was able to take care of most of the problems. After my last post I checked my AIR FILTER and found it completely soaked too. Might account for the high idle.... I actually am a rather car savy woman, spending time in the Army working on my Hummer! Usually do most work myself, but this is the first car I've had with ELECTRONICS!!! Darn those car companies!!! The smoke is long gone. The OIL was gone!!! Imagine the oil being completely filled with water.... gee how could that have happened?? This is my first LOW riding vehicle, so I appologize to all the guys out there. HEY! I changed my own head gasket and struts on my last car!! LOL
