4wd Trouble

I've had my skyline for about 3 months now and when I bought it I had Motorex put the Power FC in it.

Well about 2 months ago the check engine light and 4wd light comes on.

I thought it was the new rims I put on but that was'nt it because after a while the lights cut off.

Then the 4wd light starts cutting on a everyother day. Then for some reason over the last 2 1/2 weeks it has'nt went off at all.

So I decide to put the factory computer back in so I could pull the codes and my light hasen't came back on then.

ANy one have any insight on what could be wrong?

What does your front torque do when you launch pretty hard?

I am just askin, but you do have all the same size tires on all 4 corners right?

There are a few sensors that play a heavy part in the 4wd system, it might be a loose wire.

Need to pull the codes, that will help. Like you mentioned.

I have the same size all the way around I even put the ones that came on the car on and it still did it. I know the camber is off in the front real bad but it's been that way ever since I bought it. And if that's causing the code how cone it won't code with the stock computer in.

When the 4wd light is on no front torque at all.

I'd love to be able to pull the codes but when I put the stock computer back in everything works and no 4wd light or check engine.

The problem has to be in the Power FC unit, any ideas. I can't pull the codes out of the FC.

That is a strange problem.

So, have you installed the FC again, to see if happens again?

First which powerFC do you have and which GTR do you have? The R32,33, and 34 all use a different version of the powerFC. Also unless it is set right it may not be picking up the signals from one of the many sensors. You have a throttle position sensor, G-force sensors, and anti-lock brake sensors that the ATTESSA system all monitors in order to control how and when it works.
From what you discribe it sounds more like you have the wrong PowerFC in the car.

I have a R-33 GT-R. The serial # says it's for a GTR33L. Motorex installed it and it ran good for a month.

I'm going to put it back in this weekend and see what it does I miss it. It made a hell of a differance in the way the car ran.

I'll keep you posted.

4 wd light finaly came back on on the factory computer but no check engine light thought. So it's not the Power FC. I juggled the wires to the harness for the computer and the light went out so I'm going to have to go throught the wires and trouble shot there mess.

it could be the plug or a wire. Either way an eletrical fault is a nightmare, at least you got lucky and narrowed the area down.

Looks just the way a Power FC should look...

Look at pin 53 on the harness . Thats the speed input to the stock computer.

About the only one that goes though the / to the Power FC.

I cant say I believe its being caused by the Power FC or harness.

There is troubleshooting for the Attesa system...

The thing is I dont know it off the top of my head .... R32's are easy... R33 you can check with a Consult unit. There is another way , but I need to dig it out...

Check the fluid level for the Attesa system in the trunk....

I finaly put the power FC back in and no light. Checked the pins and fluid and there cool. So most likely it's in the harness it self but everythings working fine for now.
