Engine weight
Can any one tell me, or have a link to a site that has the weight "engine and transmission only" of the following:
  • KA24DE
  • SR20DET
  • RB25DET

KA and SR are within a 20 lbs difference..
i read it on nissan performance mag where they had the engines sitting beside eachother and weighed with the tranny on aswell.

they were both in the 490 range, with the KA being a tiny bit heavier.

i think KA is 493 and 490 for the SR. not sure about the RB though

i believe rb25 is 720 and Ka is 540, I have no idea where you guys got 490s from..

then again my weights are from fully dressed with both crossmembers and the steering rack attached, but not including ac...

same setting for sr should be roughly 500

Ive been looking for engine weight numbers for sometime its nice to find some results...anywho i think the SR20 should be a bigger difference in weight than what i quoted.493 and 490 dont seem right,seems right range for engine weight (between 490-525 id say)but not the difference between the 2...KA is cast iron and SR20 is aluminum..so id think even with the turbo it aint gonna weigh to much to the KA but not to far of course...none the less...yes the skyline RB i believe seeing is like 720bs or so....anywo nice to see this post thanks guys.

rb25 weighs 60 lbs more than ka. the sr weighs 40 lbs less than ka.

yeah i hate looking for engine specs....espically for engine weight....hope you can make that site and that its a good one....let me know if you build it man. Yippie Skippie to you all...lol
