Broken Heater Hose Quick Connect

1998 Chevy Tahoe

Last night I noticed the heater hose quick connect was leaking. The quick connect is screwed into the intake manifold. I grabbed the heater hose and gave it a little shake and the quick connect broke off, leaving the threads in the intake manifold.

I tried to remove the threads from the intake manifold with an extractor tool, but they appear to have become ONE with the each other.

What next?

The dealership said they would remove it for ~$200.

Another mechanic said he would drill and tap the manifold for $130... without taking the manifold off. This doesn't sound like a good idea.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

David

The quick connect (or what is left of it) can be removed without removing the intake manifold.
The problem is removing the threads of the quick connect without destroying the threads of the intake.
