do I need subs?

I have a 95 civic coupe, and I was talking to someone at a Best Buy, and he said that I didnt need subs because my car is so small, and it would be better to just get component speakers....is this true?

IMO Get subs. You can't obtain as good of sounds nor can you obtain as deep of a bass no matter how small the car is.
Then again it depends on how much you want to spend and what music you listen to. I have two 12" and I'm very happy with them. If you aren't looking for that much bass go with either 2 10" or 1 12". Just my though.

I agree, I would get subs. Having the comps would be nice, but they are not able to hit the low notes like a sub can. I would go with maybe a single Adire Shiva (they onlu come in 12") with a JBL 600.1 amp

hmmmm what are you looking for? something just to listen to....or something for the guy one block away to listen to? i just recently sold my orion H2 12".....it was powered by an mtx-81000.....i managed to hit 149.6db outta that in my crx.....but it was also in a 3cubic ft box ported.....it played fairly deecent....still has no comparision of sound quality to say the JL 13w7 a buddy of mine has. when it comes to audio i spare no expense....you get what you pay for.
